shickoff
What do you Realtree Forum turkey hunters think of the extended Pennsylvania shooting hours starting Monday, May 16? Here's the latest Realtree Turkey Blog post on the regulation change: Turkey Blog - Pennsylvania All-Day Turkeys | Realtree ® Thanks! Rhino
IMHO...It's about time! With the exception of Missouri, all the states where I've turkey hunted allow afternoon hunting.
dsharp01
Looks like New York is 1 of the few who only allows hunting until 12 noon.
Ethan Givan
Not allowing afternoon hunting doesnt make sense to me. I think all states should allow it. I would sure hate to think we couldnt hunt in the afternoons here. I have probably killed half of my turkeys in the afternoon.
shickoff
Turkey Hunting Until Noon . . . Good points, all of 'em. Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont and New York all close daily shooting hours at noon for spring turkeys. (I hunt all four each year.) Feels like two days in one when I hunt places like Georgia and Oklahoma (and elsewhere) as I did this spring season . . .
PotashRLS
We've had it all in Wisconsin. We started out closing at noon. Then it went to 5pm. Now it is up until after sunset. Having hunted during all those different hunting hour structures, I actually liked the 5pm close the best. It allowed for afternoon hunting and also some quality scouting for the next day. It is hard to scout multiple properties and hunt at the same time. Plus most people won't/can't shoot them from a roost anyway so why wait them out at the roost tree at dusk? JMHO. However, any law that allows more hunting opportunity is a good thing.
buckbuster11
I guess I'm ok with it for the second half of the season. I wouldn't be a big fan if it was like that for the entire season. :flex:
