Gas Check...

3.75 to 3.89 here and i get to sit in the truck while they pump it.Still a lot to fill it up. My fishing in the river has been a lot closer to the launch as my 45jet only gets 19 miles to a 6 gallon tank.

I still say we are nothing more than sheep being scammed by the shepherds.

Heck, I WISH we were paying $4.xx let alone $3.xx for a gallon of gas. This $5.00+ is a total killer. I don't know how people afford to put gas in these huge V8's (or even dare buy them!!) all the time and run all over creation. We have a V8 truck and I want to get rid of it SO BAD. We could make a brand new car payment for what we spend on gas for this truck in a month.

Yep I do the same calculation and also throw in the difference in the dollar, so it's USD and US gallons. I know one thing, it's WAY too much.

What's really irritating is we were paying way less per liter last time the price per barrel was this high.

Yup, good way to compare. If you use the approximation of $1.00 Cdn = $1.04 US (this fluctuates all the time) and 1 USgal = 3.785 liters, the conversion factor is 3.94. For example, $l.30 / l x 3.94 = $5.12/gal (US dollars and gallons).

In town today it was $1.359/l Cdn = $5.35/gal US.

Happily, there is a whistle stop just over the border here where the price is currently a mere $4.57/gal. The lineup is usually long.

Gas here today in southeastern ontario varies significantly from community to community, but in my town it's 1.289/L. After converting it to US gallons and applying the exchange plus the 2.5% that the banks nail you for an admin fee for the exchange (whether you use a credit card, debit card or get US dollars exchanged at the bank), it equates to $5.18 US per US gallon.

I live right on the US/Canada border and can easily run stateside and buy gas. 5 miles from my house it's $4.06 US per US gallon in the states, so I save $$1.12 US per gallon by going stateside. Only problem is that I have to pay almost $6.00 for the bridge fares plus the 2.5% admin fee to the banks for the exchange. So on average, a 20 US gallon fillup (76 L) stateside would save me $22.40 - $6.00 bridge fare - 2.5% bank admin fee - the gas it takes to drive stateside = about a $12.00 saving per tank.

I'm actually more upset with the banks than I am with the gas companies.

Diesel on Ontario is actually less than gasoline per litre, but it's more than gas stateside.

Diesel in Ontario = $1.229 cdn/L ($4.94 US per US gal)

Gas in Ontario = $1.289 cdn/L ($5.18 US per US gallon)

Diesel In NY State = $4.399 US per US gallon ($1.15 cdn per litre)

Gas in NY State = $4.059 US per US gallon ($1.06 cdn per litre)
