Jeramie
Oil prices are dropping and right now speculation is that we will be paying $.50 less per gallon by the end of June. Just though I would share some good news about fuel prices...

Jeramie
I'll believe it when I see it. I agree to a point. However, 5 major figure heads from Chevron, Exxon, BP, etc. are at congress today getting an earful. Happens every time gas prices shoot up. That will likely bring prices down too in addition to oil prices dropping. Keep in mind the unrest in Egypt, tsunami, tornados, flooding, etc. Things like this will drive up prices. Refineries are having to do overhauls right now too (typical for the first of the year, new budgets) and equipment isn’t cheap. The thing to fear is Obama is trying to repeal the Bush tax cuts. If he does do you think the big oil companies are going to just take a hit on profit to make up the shortfall from the increased taxes??? Negative. Also, keep in mind our energy secretary said his number one enemy was coal and he wouldn’t rest until we were paying as much for fuel as Europe (so we would have to look for alternate energy sources). Not too long after that he was given the office of energy secretary. Coincidence? I doubt it.
birdhunter39
even at a .50 cent decrease in gas i'll still be paying $ 3.85 a gallon of gas , which is still way too much for gas .

Ravin R10 man
We need to drill and start using our own oil ..put our people to work, and build more refinerys...the roads are like a ghost town..,,Ive never seen so many boats, wheelers, jet skis, snowmobiles and motorcycles for sale. truckers are not out there either..very few on the road, loggers and farmers are hurting too with the cost of diesel and inputs
m gardner
One thing the feds could do immediately to help prices is to only require one type of gas to be refined instead of special blends for different parts of the country and for summer/winter use to meet strict EPA standards. Another thing we haven't taken into account is that oil is traded in dollars and the dollar has been badly devalued lately so of course it takes more of them to buy crude. This isn't over yet because the dollar contiues to slide. Drilling in the US would help some but it would take time to get production up enough to help. wtnhunt
I'll believe it when I see it. Me too, heard on the news last week they were expecting prices to be back down considerably by the end of this week and a national average well below the $3.50 mark before June. Been a couple weeks now I think since oil prices plummetted and fell below $100 a barrel and yet prices continue to rise. Funny how that works since the prices raise immediately on any news of any potential thought there might be an increase in demand or some production slowdowns. Put OUR people to work producing OUR resources for OUR usage. I am so SICK of the excuse that it will take time to start seeing the results and that it is not a fast fix. Bullcrap!! Speculation will change in the market quickly and start to keep prices in check. If we don't ever start drilling and tapping our resources, we will always be under someone else's thumb. We must start NOW!! Government needs to get out of the way of good ole hard working American people.

There is a lot of claim they wont allow us ot drill because of environmental impact. BULLLLLLLLLLLL. Granted BP had a major spill but look how they are being raked over the coals for that. I do a lot of international business and i can tell you first hand that in a lot of places (such as the sandbox) they don’t give a rats rear if they have a major oil spill. If they pump 1k gallons of oil on the sand they just keep on going. Here, if you spill oil you will clean it up.... period. We are all under the same bubble and doing damage in the sandbox, China, Venezuela, etc is the same thing as doing damage here. Its just out of sight and out of mind. Obama was in South America recently with one of our customers telling them the USA would stand behind their drilling and refining of petroleum and that we wanted to be their largest consumers. When he got back stateside he was asked if he would open drilling off shore for our companies and he wouldn’t respond. Im about ready to have the million man ticked-off march on Washington. Granted BP should have had a plan ready for such a disaster but I blame the environmentalists for making us drill so far off shore. If we were allowed to drill closer that mess would have been plugged up a lot sooner.

BearClaw
I'll believe it when I see it! Corporate greed strikes America again! Congress scolding the oil companies is like the fox lecturing the chickens on chicken coop security! It's a farce and they will all go out to lunch together and laugh about it and discuss how much the oil companies how much they will contribute to their re-election campaign. Sorry to be so cynical but I've seen it again and again!
