New home decor

After 2 weeks of drying, I could not wait any longer. I had to mount my first Turkey fan and hang it on the wall. I am running out of wall space and ledge space. Hopefully this fall/winter, I will have a deer or two plus an antelope to hang, just not sure where i'm going to show them off. Anyhere, here's an update of my den...

Also, since apparently all my buddies think my fan looks great they asked me to do theirs, I'm going to start charging them!

And two more, just because..

This picture has animal parts from all over the country. Texas shipped from New York, downtown Charlotte NC, The blue ridge mountains and BC Canada. Pretty cool!

William, I'm going to need that new house of yours to display all this stuff. Please leave the side door open and the keys on the counter, I will be there this afternoon to move in. Thanks!

Looks good Ben, even though I think I would paint the walls a different color.

What color? I need to paint the wall behind me while I was taking those pictures as well. I dont have the eye for interior painting and what looks good and matches and all that stuff.

I would stick to a mutual color but pick one that will make the colors of your wildlife "pop". Right now it all blends in too much. I would leave the upper part of the wall (recessed part) a lighter color than the main wall, but would not leave it white.

The turkey fan turned out great! I love the duck mounts too. I think Dawg may be right about a different paint color to make everything pop. Although I'm not much into the accent wall/painting thing, in my opinion I would go with sage on the lower wall and a light cream color on the top.

Looks great Ben - gotta agree with Elkoholic on the Sage and Cream but make sure to use Flat for the Sage and semi-gloss for the cream above the ledge and Gloss cream for the door trim and any other trim. The flat for the main walls will make your mounts really pop and give them depth against the wall. If my office didn't already have the paneling, it would be Flat Sage with a hint of chalk yellow and then Gloss Cream for all the trim. ( 24 years as a color analyst in the commercial print sector.)

  • 5 months later...

we've got some color in our house... all neutral earth tones though. kitchen is a grayish blue of some kind, living room and hallway areas are a color called skinny moca i think (beige), and the bedroom is forest green or something. I can send you picture if you want for ideas. fiance's pretty good at that stuff. still trying to get a double drop tined whitetail to hang in the livingroom. that was her conditions. fair right? lol

....unless you've already painted them.

hey, ben. just go to a gay bar and you'll get all sorts of decorating ideas plus learn some cool new words like fucia and chartruse. be sure to put your shorts on backwards so you blend in....

or, maybe go to a paint story and see what they think. lol

Heck Ben if you play your cards right you might get someone to do if for you. LOL maybe a new hunting buddy. Love the room by the way, I do think the colors look fine.

laughing2.gif What time you two boys showing up?

laughing.gif I really dont care that much about the wall coloring. Heck, this thread is how many months old and I still havent done anything to them. There is too much stuff on them now to paint them anyways and now its hunting season, my priorities do not lay on the color of the walls.

PS. Steve....I'm working on it...

It looks really great Ben. I agree on the possible color change to bring out the hidden stuff...but I have to tell ya. As an electrician...you need some accent lighting. It could even double for mood lighting when you have your groove on:kiss:. Lighting makes a difference. Some track lighting or wall washer hi hats would work well.

That ledge is perfect for decorating with game animals and their parts.
