JMAN
When I went searching the internet a couple of weeks ago for a snake charmer I had in mind finding a .22/.410 conversion in a rifle. What I found instead has now become my favorite new toy, The Super Comanche .410/45 LC w/10” rifled barrel and full choke. While it has the capabilities to shoot a 45 LC I will not be shooting anything other than .410 rounds through it as it's purpose in life is to charm snakes and maybe a couple of squirrels during the fall. The first step I took was to Google it and see what popped up. About 85% of the comments were good. The one I ran across so often was that it was an “ugly pistol” that had machine marks in the body but what did you expect for a $200 pistol? This was the first thing I found to be untrue about it. In fact, it is a very smooth looking gun and I like the way it looks. I have not found a rough mark on it yet. The grips and forearm are black plastic and hard. I found them to be sturdy (at least the hand grips), easy to hold, and comfortable in my hands. The forearm grip popped off about halfway through the shooting session and was actually expected to happen from what I had read on the internet. The mount for the screw is only glued on and really not that well. Not a problem for me either to mount back on. The pistol actually has more of an Old West look with the forearm gone. May have to study on that one. The pistol easily slides between your belt loop and pants and will stay there without a worry of it falling out. When the safety (which is a flip switch located on the left side of the gun) is engaged you cannot pull the hammer back on the pistol which I like. I took three different rounds with me to shoot and test with. Two were made by Remington (#8 & Rifled Slugs) and were part of their “Nitro” series and the other was the Centurion 000 Buck 3 Pellet. I purchased this ammo because it was cheaper without completely reading the reviews on it. Let this be a word of caution to anyone who reads this...DO NOT USE Centurion ammunition in this pistol. It is a low brass round that expands and will stick inside the chamber causing the ejector to pull over it. The only way to remove the shell is with a ramrod through the end of the barrel backwards. This happened 6 straight times and I gave up trying to shoot the 000 Buck made by Centurion. I do want to give high praise to the way the Remington ammunition fired and ejected cleanly every time and performed and will be my preferred choice of ammunition for it from now on. This pistol is capable of shooting 3” rounds also but I really don't see any reason to. The 3” rounds will cost more and really couldn't give you that much of an advantage over the 2.5” rounds. Keep in mind that this is also my very first time shooting this pistol so the test is certainly not what it could be six months from now after I have pumped hundreds of rounds through it and done some tweaking here and there. I was still impressed with the overall results. Even our fun shooting showed some impressive results. As you will see in the video, the recoil with 2.5” rounds is really not bad at all. I never felt like the pistol even came close to biting me and seemed very manageable. What is terrible about this pistol is the trigger pull. It seems like you are pulling 7 lbs although the factory claims 5 lbs. It is a tough pull and one of the first things I will change about the pistol here in the near future bringing it down to 2.75 lbs which is my preferred trigger pull weight on all of my weapons. The weapon itself is solid and feels very safe (weighing in at nearly 4 lbs). It comes with adjustable rear sites both up and down and left and right. Unfortunately, I forgot to bring my small screwdriver to adjust the sites so I tried to shoot at the same spot on the targets everytime to show patterns. My friends were just as impressed with it as we took turns shooting. My overall assessment of this would be when someone ask me what do I expect for a $200 pistol?....I would say I expect that I'm gonna have a big ol grin on my face for some time to come and I can't wait to shoot it again. This pistol is more fun that a double recess!
m gardner
Good video. Looks like a decent pistol for low budget SHTF bag.
HUNTINGMAN
Good video and a nice looking gun. Does it have a rifled barrel or a smoothe bore?
RangerClay
I would get a Judge. At least you have more than one shot. Edited May 23, 2011 by RangerClay
