NS whitetail
Last night was aweful, it was the worst lightning show that I have ever seen and it struck to close for comfort. The power pole in my driveway is black at the top. I had almost everything unplugged but it still came in and destroyed .... my computer, modem, router, a tv, cordless phones, water pump, the power supply and input switches for my satellite receivers. Had to have the internet guy here today for a new modem and change the burnt line, the sat man to repair things, a plumber tomorow and an electrician to check things out since smoke was coming out of some electrical plugs, I stayed awake until 5 am to make sure we didn't have a fire. The power was out and it was 1:30 am, it was a nervous time for the family, we had just started to come down in the basment when the hit occurred, sure glad I wasn't still upstairs looking out the window. Thankfully for insurance, I got a new computer system today and they told me to get and replace whatever needed to be replaced. I have a $500 deductible, but I would say that the cost will be 3K or more to fix everything. I am just glad that no one was hurt and it never hit the house directly. The_Kat
I hate paying high homeowners insurance premiums....but it's a wonderful thing to have when you need it. Glad it wasn't any worse than it was bud.

Crappiepro
+1 Yeah, I'd have to rewire the house, I wouldn't be able to sleep there at all until I knew for sure things were OK! Glad, you and your family are safe, no one got hurt.
