MUDRUNNER
I had a similiar situation during bow season. We had some strong straight line winds during the week, and when I went to climb in for my Saturday morning hunt the tree was down. It was about a 3' diameter cottonwood that blew over roots and all. Somehow my stand managed to not get smashed. Hopefully you can find another tree close by to hang it in. Sounds like a good spot.
sskybnd
that sucks, but i guess if it had to fall i would much rather it happen long before season started, and i had time to adjust the area . than fall during season, might make for a good ground blind location now. HUNTINGMAN
I know how you feel man, loggers have decimated the farm I hunt on and now it's hard to find a tree big enough to put a stNd in. It is a good thing it fell way before season and not while you were in the tree,I like the ground blind idea to,maybe you could use the tree top to your advantage and build a blind from it. BearClaw
Good thing it happened now. Worse case scenario would be the storm weakened it, you get up in it and then it falls! God was watching out for you! Some things we need to see as blessings in disguise!
Ravin R10 man
Got it cut out of the fallen spruce today..no damage but seat should be replaced before going back out Edited July 20, 2011 by Mathews XT Man
Stone Cold
That sucks! Hope no damage to stand!
Rhino
I've had that happen too but no damage to my stand. I've had several friends have the same thing happen...worse were some where another tree fell into their tree hitting their stand and tearing it up. toddyboman
Good deal on the stand being ok. I never seem to be that lucky LOL. We have had a couple nasty wind storms this year.....and honestly I haven't made it out to check all my stands.....I sure hope they are ok...
