Alt's project finally coming to fruition?

:D

I've been seeing a lot of deer around my parts....which doesn't mean squat right now. I had been seeing what will be a nice deer come October, but I haven't seen him, or his tracks for a couple weeks now, so he's already onto greener pastures. Hopefully he comes back.

Way too soon to start down here. They've only had a couple of months or so down here to grow bone.

Only been growing it for about a month and a half here. But, if a buck's gonna impress you in October, he'll impress you in about two more weeks. You can usually get a real good gauge of a buck by the third week of June or so. Around here, anyways.

From past experience here in MS, their antler potential won't impress me too much until the end of July. Saw 3 bucks together last week and the biggest of the 3 had decent mass but not enough antler growth yet to even start branching at the G2's. Main beams were ~1' long. A friend of mine sends me pics from the midwest and those buck's antler growth around the 1st of August look like ours around the 1st of September. They cast antlers up there in January & February though while these MS bucks cast them from mid March to mid April.

Since I'll be in Africa, or traveling to or from there from late July through mid August, I'll start running the cams here after I get back from there. Till then though I'll sure enjoy your TC pics and other's here. Good luck growing biguns on the Strut10 ranch!

Dunno about the Gary Alt genius stuff, hope your number of misfit pics are down Don.

Unfortunately around here we still have too many "brown its down" shooters whacking the deer we pass up to really see our management attempts paying off as big as we would like. Would be nice to see this state get a little more aggressive on management, seems focus here though is still on decimating the numbers by keeping ridiculous limits, mismanagement of natural resources imho. That said I think the 8 I passed up on our rifle opener that was about 17 inches wide might have made it through, got pics of another 8 late in Decemeber I am hopeful also made it.
