Shaun_300
They're a pretty good vehicle. I especially like the 2010+ new body style ones. Have the 2.4 Ecotec which gives it great gas mileage. Also can get the 3.0L DOHC V6 Caddy engines in them too.
redkneck
Thanks Shaun. Really don't know squat about the ecotec's other than the specs on performance. Girls made the HS softball team and we'll be going all over the state come fall and thinking about getting something a little more suited for that than the BMW is. Shaun_300
The Ecotec is an awesome engine! It's designed by Lotus, all aluminum. I can pick a complete engine up by myself, only weighs 250lbs or something. Cranks out the power too, especially the newer ones with the direct injection, think the Equinox has 180hp or so, not bad for a 4 banger, and it pushes it well too with the 6-speed transmission in them. They use the Ecotec in the dragsters, they can push over 1000hp through them! My Matco dealer has an HHR SS with the 2.0L Turbo Ecotec with the direct injection. I installed the GM Performance upgrade kit in it too, it's got 300hp and 340lb ft or torque, man can that car haul! Hits 100mph in a flash. I've only had one apart and that's the only one I've seen apart, a connecting rod bearing failed on an 2.2 HHR at 7,000 miles, obviously a flaw. It must not have been torqued properly or just a bad bearing, never see issues with the internals on these engines. Wouldn't hesitate to buy one!
