Code Blue Mock Scrape

Well after reading the deer droppings thread I figured I would post this.

Last season I did a comparison camera study on primos deer droppins and code blue mock scrape. I created two mock scrapes that were not near natural scrapes. I placed the cameras out on them and the results were very different. The code blue pulled deer consistently for 25 days and almost every buck that visited was 3.5 and older. Once deer started hitting this it never stopped until around Nov 20th. Again this isn't a perfect test but I had 4 3.5 year old deer visiting this scrape and visit it multiple times in a 24 hr period(2-3).

The primos product wasn't used at all. I'm not willing to make a determination based on one test but I can say I will definitely be trying this again to see what happens.

I did some reading on the Primos Dropins and found out that it's not the actual "turd" look that attracts the deer, or should attract the deer. The "turd" is supposedly infused with some sort of attractant. I'm not sure if its urine or what but the "turd" is sort of like a camoflauge or gives it an al naturale look.

Still not enough to make me buy it.

I've never tried Code Blue before. If I buy any type of attractant it's usually Tinks brand. Neat study though.

Guess we will see here this fall. Our wally world just happened to have some code blue "scrape mate" on the clearance isle for $6 a bottle when I was in there yesterday. Picked up one of them, may grab another one or two next time I am in there if they have any left. Think I still have an unopened 4 oz bottle of active scrape around here somewhere will have to compare.

Wonder how active scrape would compare to the code blue product? Never tried the code blue scrape scent but have pretty good results here with active scrape year after year.

I used active scrape for years and always liked it alot. Last year tried the code blue and I have to tell you I love it, mine lasted a little longer than 30 days alot better than the week of active scrape and I can tell you I will have the code blue at all my stand sites this years for sure

i think i will give that a try, how many days after you put it out did they start to comeing to it.

once they found it they were on it. I didn't have a drop in activity either because the does were spending as much time in it as the bucks. I think I had activity within 24 hrs if I remember correctly.

I have'nt use'd the Mock Scrape yet,but last season i use'd the doe P. Spray'd it on a lil oak bush about 15 yard's from my stand just before get'n into it. It stop'd a buck that was on the heel's of a HOT doe long enuff for me to put crosshair's on him. Code Blue has my vote...

Yep, usually that way. Does use scrapes, but doe activity I see where I use active scrape usually is very low in comparison to bucks. I usually use the same oak limbs year after year where I start my mock scrapes. There are community scrapes nearby, which are used more by younger bucks and does.

The active scrape without any doubt gets the deer using the scrapes which is the point. Typically see deer take it over and then the only reason I refresh with any bottled scent is to peak the curiousity and possibly tick off the dominant buck just enough to get him coming back to see who is there. Calling blind in those type situations can also pay off. If I can I try to dowse limbs and leaves a day or two prior to hunting, wear rubber boots and gloves to minimize human scent.
