Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Just went to -13 for the record low. Have watched that groups entire round online and he is on fire.
muggs
stupid move on 18...he also should have tried to get his ball to roll into the hazard more on his second drop. Still, he's got a huge lead. i hope he can keep this going. he's one of my favorite players.
buckbuster11
Dude can put up some Tiger Woods like rounds. I'm still on the fence until I see him do it on a Sunday though. If he can put that together he's the next big thing.
gzilla45
That certainly was an impressive win.
Tominator
Worst U.S. Open in quite some time, IMO.
Ohiobucks
Worst U.S. Open in quite some time, IMO. Yeah, only 12 US Open records broken during his victory, including youngest player to win it since 1923. B-O-R-I-N-G.... Don't know about most of you guys, but I like being a witness to history. Edited June 20, 2011 by Ohiobucks
Tominator
Yeah, only 12 US Open records broken during his victory, included youngest player to win it since 1923. B-O-R-I-N-G.... Don't know about most of you guys, but I like being a witness to history. It was super B-O-R-I-N-G! When I think U.S. Open, I think super tough, gnarly rough, and super fast, almost unfair greens. I love hearing the pros cry that the course is too tough. Congressional was not in typical U.S. Open form--way too easy. Nice wide fairways, not much water, Deepest rough I saw was 3 or 4"--pathetic. Stimp meter was 12 and 13 (never 14) most days, which is quick, but the Open is usually quicker. Second place -8 was the lowest non-winning score in the entire history of the tournament. No doubt Rory would have won that thing on any course, but most of those records were the result of the easy play, not stellar performance. Ohiobucks
No doubt Rory would have won that thing on any course, but most of those records were the result of the easy play, not stellar performance. If it wasn't a stellar performance on Rory's part, and the course was set up so easy, why did he win by 8 strokes? Why weren't 10 players within 1-5 strokes of the lead? The course was easier, but not because how they set it up. All of the rain they've had leading up to the tourney (and some during the tourney as well) contributed greatly to how soft the course was, how "slow" the greens were, etc. Granted, the rough wasn't a foot deep, but other than that, it was all Rory. toddyboman
I agree the US open conditions where not as tough/challenging as they could have been.....But they did have rain several days which only help slow and soften those greens....but that was the cards those guys where dealt. However the open was still good. I enjoyed watching Rory dominate......The guy hit fairways and green ALL WEEK!
Tominator
No doubt Rory would have won that thing on any course, but other than that, it was all Rory. Ummmm, yeah, that's what I just said DB. I know you take great delight in busting my chops at every opportunity, so it's cool.

You said easy play. If the course was so easy, there should have been a log jam of pros at the top. There wasn't. You take this as busting your chops? Tominator
There was a log jam of guys under par. Easy course. Records were broken for how many and how far under par guys were. Easy course, boring Open. Period. IMHO.
gzilla45
The US Open is supposed to be about guys hitting out of knee high rough and putting on glass tables. Its fun watching them struggle sometimes. It makes me feel better about my game. This course wasn't really setup that way but I'm certainly not taking anything away from what Rory did. That was an amazing performance.
