buckee
Re: Talk about up close and personal [ QUOTE ] I am driven by my passion and self-belief for what I know is right. Rather than deciding the fate of a wounded Cape buffalo by simply blasting him into oblivion on the follow-up, I would confront the grand warrior with my double rifle, and beckon him to choose his own destiny [/ QUOTE ] Stupid, dumb, macho, self gratifying, self glorifying, showboat, daredevil, Adrenaline junkie, and nothing ethical about it. [ QUOTE ] What could possibly be more ethical or moral than to give the wounded beast a fighting chance, knowing full well that if I do not stop his charge, I will die? [/ QUOTE ] These quotes are Off his web-page, and from his own mouth admits these animals were previously shot (wounded) I personally think his thinking is very twisted. If he wants to give a wounded animal a fighting chance...take it to a vet. If his intentions are to put down a wounded animal and end it's suffering, then do it quickly, for the animals sake...don't play macho death games. I feel what he is doing is unethical and he is doing it for his own glory. There is nothing ethical about waiting and provoking an animal until it charges you, to kill it. Some might say " if what one does is within the Game Laws where you are Hunting then why judge ". To that I say, if a hunter or anyone perposefully prolongs the suffering of a wounded animal, just to get his own jollies, there is something wrong with the picture, ethically and morally speaking. This is my personal opinion
smallmunster
Re: Talk about up close and personal Buckee, Thanks for the quotes, pretty close to the first actual facts posted on this thread. Most of what we have here is rumor; I personally don't think that is enough to run someone down about the way they choose to hunt. I would have to agree that there he might be crazy, but I don't believe that necessarily makes what he does unethical. Going off what I have seen of his vids he didn't do anything that I would have called unethical. He or his clients usually made good shots through the vitals and because they are usually very close the fatally wounded animal often charges them. The whole thing takes a few seconds usually. I am more than willing to listen to facts that contradict what happened on the video that I saw. If he is indeed shooting animals in non-lethal areas so they will charge him then obviously that is unethical. The quotes you referenced are in response to a hunt that I have not seen. How long did he wait before finishing the wounded Cape buffalo? What were the circumstances?
