bamabeardbuster
What is everyone opinion on the best type of feeder, broadcast, gravity, trough, ect. And does anyone use any additives in their feeder?
dogdoc
I don't use additives to my feeders. I personally like the broadcast feeders so I can control how much food is delivered. I like the Kenco Tornado feeder. Has 3 seperate motors. Got one that is close to 12 years old and still going strong.
Orion_70
I also like the broadcast feeders. On time feeders are very reliable. I've used feeders for many years, and in my opinion, stay away from the daylight and dusk feeders. It's better to have a programmable feeder either by pins or digital so you can control the time of day and length of duration. I set mine to throw once daily in the mornings. I don't use additives in my feed, but all I throw is soybean now because of the bears.
sskybnd
im using all three types now, for some reason the deer on one property wont come to the broadcast feeder, and had to go to a gravity type feeder in that area, as for adding additives in my feeders i dont till closer to season and use cameer-deer and acorn rage, and only in the trough and gravity type feeders, but by also using all three types it gives me a way to mix up what i think they will want that will help my hunting out. like the troughs i have 2 troughs side by side built into a frame, and feed rice bran, soybean meal, sweet feed, roasted soybeans, for the broadcast feeders i just use corn but will drop a bag of acorn rage or cameer deer on the ground close to it.
