Your Goals

My goals are the same as most years. To go out and take it for what it is. Just being out there is a bonus.

Pretty well the same here. My goals don't change too much from year to year. Hope to see the wife and my oldest kill a wallhanger. Hope to get some good video while hunting with my kids. Would be nice to get a mature buck in range with the bow, would be cool if it came togethher with the camera running.

Kill every 1.5 year old deer I see.

LMAO--my God, that's funny right there.

Seriously....help a few farmers out by killing more does. Hunt with my buddy Ohiobucks more. Our kids keep us pretty busy lately, but seems we didn't hunt together much this past year. Finally, kill a big mature buck, preferably with the bow.

I'm really just looking forward to getting out there and enjoy taking it all in as it happens. Sick of the summer heat too so looking forward to the cooler air. Help our club kill their 40 doe quota. Taking a mature buck would be as bonus. There's also one particular young friend of mine I'd like to see kill his 1st wall hanger. I'll do what I can to help him again this fall.

Lastly...a group of us (ya know the ones that do just about everything for the good of the club and prepare ahead of time for ourselves) hope to prove another whinning group wrong (the ones that won't lift a finger to help out or do anything in the woods to help themselves). To make a long story short this whinning group hasn't killed much the past few seasons (imagine that!). They blame their lack of success on the successful hunters disturbing the woods too much. So...this year we have a few new rules to limit pre-season preparation and in season scouting. Basically, we can't start pre-season preparation until September including setting out any trail cams till then. During the season we can't check, move, or set trail cams until Sunday afternoons unless it's by a stand we are hunting at that particular time. I usually do that anyway but everyone that runs cams doesn't. This may sound bad to some of you but I'll do whatever I can to help a certain group kill mature bucks. As far as I'm concerned, those whinners are on their own. Sorry...but you asked. ;) BTW...for the past 5 years I've been posting trail cam pics in the camp's computer (I donated it) so everyone could see the mature bucks we're growing each year. No specific locations of the pics were given due to the potential problems that could cause. If I recall, last year 68 different mature bucks were ID'd and loaded in the computer. Basically, 6 hunters including me have been contributing to that cause but over half of the pics are ones I've captured on my cams. Needless to say, due to the trail cam limitations, I won't bother doing that anymore.

Harvest a deer with my bow.....buck or doe, doesn't matter. This makes the 5th year of bow hunting for me and I have yet to harvest a deer with a bow. I would really like a crack at the drop tine buck from last year but will fling an arrow at a nanny if she walks by.

Help my son harvest his first deer with his newly aquired Savage .270.

I just hope to have a good year with my bow, would love to kill a 3.5 y/o with it, would also like to help my girls take their first buck. Will be harder, kids will both be playing ball for the school team which means we'll be all over the state playing ball on many a Saturday, but we'll enjoy the time we have for sure.

#1) I am trying to get ALL 3 of my sons together this November so we all can deer hunt(firearm) together. It will be the first time. I dreamed of that day since each were born.

Hmmm, for me...I'd like to hunt more(archery) from my home county to have a better chance at better/bigger/mature bucks. Might try the ground this year. I love my trees.

Also looking forward to my Texas friend spending another opening week with me here at my hunting camp in the Catskills.
