m gardner
As the country deteriorates there has arisen a debate. Some christians have the mentality that they need to put away food, water, clothes etc. in preparation for the hards times that look like are nearly upon us. Others accuse them of not trusting God and put their future in God's hands to provide for them. I'm of the opinion that is presented in Genesis 3:14-24. That when man was expelled from the Garden of Eden that the free stuff stopped and that we needed to work for it from then on. God provides it but we need to work. The concept of working or going without is presented in 2 Thessalonians 3:10 but is a command from the Apsotles in line with God's word. According to the Bible there is no free stuff, except salvation. Jesus did that work for us.

Jeramie
I think the mindset of a true Christian follows that example naturally. Speaking for me personally, if you walked into a room and dropped a wad of $100 bills on a table and walked out there wouldnt be a single one missing when you got back. Its not because I have some fear of lightning busting through the ceiling and striking me dead... its more of a respect. I work for what I have and what you have does not interest me. As far as stocking food, not going to happen. I can still hunt, farm, and can with the best of them. My wife and I are those people that could survive if the world shut down. Im not going to be afraid of it but would probalby welcome the quiet with open arms... In all seriousness if I could make a living on my tractor I would not be sitting behind my desk today.... BuckNrut
Foolish IMO. The bible is very clear - nobody knows when Christ will return. But a little stash does not hurt regardless.

Agreed. Always folks who take things to either extreme. I think it's foolish to stock up with a survivalist mentality, it would be more Christianlike to give those things to your neighbors should such times come. At the same time, it pays to put away some of the fruits of your labor. Our forefathers did not get though the winters by only planting what they could eat in the summer. A little common sense can be applied to about anything.
