Griz
What is the odds thing you experienced while sitting there, waiting for ole Mr. Tom to come in.... Last year I had a hank fly down and attack one of my hen decoys. That was pretty neat to watch.... Year before last on a semi foggy morning I was sitting there waiting for the turkeys to come off the roost. I was looking off to my right and when I started turning my head I noticed a coyote comeing full boar straight at me and closeing fast. He grabbed my Jake decoy and ran out about 200 yards before he dropped it.... That really caught me off gaurd. But it was awesome... I thought I heard that Coyote say.... Thou Should Have Bought A Butter Ball...lol Let's here yours. What kind of odd thing have you experienced while hunting with decoys... dartonman
Re: When set up with decoys.... Shot a female yote with the mange attacking my hen decoy....I smoked her within spitting distance....in fact, she got tangled in my ghillie suit with me doing death rolls.....I think that is the scariest thing that ever happened to me...the ghillie suit was a poncho, and I tore it off as fast as I could, and the yote got tangled in it.........and I shot her till she stopped moving.........al
redbeard
Re: When set up with decoys.... Well, I haven't hunted with decoys since my first year, 18 years ago. But one time, I took a freezed dried painted gobbler head and stuck the extending wire in a dirt mound. Sat up and just waited, hoping to catch a tough ole tom on his way to roost. Well, 'bout an hour later, here comes a hen and she catches a glance at that gobbler head. It was the funnest thing to see her go up to that head, crane her head in amazement and wonder. Heck she left and came by three times to talk to that "Stuck" gobbler. Bet she was saying "Dusted at little too much today, didn't ya?" buckbuster11
Re: When set up with decoys.... I had a ol boss hen go ballistic on one of my hen decoys last year. She walked right up to it, started yelping and doing some fighting purrs and just beat the heck out of my decoy. Almost knocked it over. This was about 10 yards from me too. I then got payback when I smoked her boyfriend a couple minutes later.
