Jeramie
Because of this heat and lack of rain Oklahoma Lakes now have Blue-Green Algae. It is dangerous and has shut down several of our area lakes. Officials are doing what they can to keep people out of the water. At current levels it can kill a dog in one hour. I live near Lake Hudson and it too has been closed off. Grand River is roughly 5 miles from me. Warnings have been posted for the river. Ft. Gibson Lake has been closed, Grand lake, etc.... Jeramie
Not likely. Im sure if it dries out it dies. We have another week of above 100 temps this week so its not going anywhere yet...
toddyboman
I heard on the radio yesterday that Texas was having problems with this too or something similar......The radio was talking how their tap water smelt and tasted terrible.....Some type of bacteria was growing/forming in their lakes/water sources. Bad bad deal......We all need some rain!!
BearClaw
This heat has taken over a lot of the country.I'm sorry to hear what's happening there. As many places, we have a heat advisory over the next couple of days. One area close to here states that heat index in the shade could be 110-115 degrees. I'm planning on hitting the Savage River in the morning for trout. (Tailwaters from the dam-steady flow as long as water is in the reservoir). Supposed to be a bit cooler down there, at least in the morning until around noon. I'm planning on taking lots of water and Gatorade.
