swohiodave
For those of you who make mock scrapes what do you do? When do you start? What scents? Do you use a dispenser? thanks, Dave
Dawg
What do you do? I take a stick and clear out a 3' area. When do you start? I don't make one until I see that the deer are working their own. What scents? Tinks Do you use a dispenser? Yes
swohiodave
What dispenser do you use? I was reading a great article on it but they did not get very specific on what they used, only tactics.

Dawg
I just started using the dispenser last year. I didn't have good results out of the attractant that came with it. Tinks has worked for me. I'm going to try some Blue Code this year to see how it does.
swohiodave
sounds good. I was looking at the electronic dispensers but they were either really expensive or had bad reviews.
hoosierhunter
code blue. I don't put them out til around Oct 20th. This will be my first year using a dripper and I bought a electronic one to program when it kicks on.
swohiodave
Hoosier, do you mind me asking which one you bought? Was it the one from code blue? If so, I will look forward to hearing how it works this year!
wtnhunt
Use active scrape in the drippers they sell as a combo pack. They work pretty well. Usually start mock scrapes here around early to mid October. I use oak trees and hang the dripper above a limb I intend to be a licking branch so it will drip on the branch before hitting the ground. Want the licking branch to be about 4 feet or so high. Deer will take the scrape over.
hoosierhunter
Hoosier, do you mind me asking which one you bought? Was it the one from code blue? If so, I will look forward to hearing how it works this year! I bought the code blue 2timer from Gander Mountain. It was 50 bucks but since then it's went up in price. The other thing I use is Grave Digger Scrape Mate.
loner
here is what i do.once the primary scrape shows up with a licking branck,i simply use dominate buck lure sparingly, on licking limb and in the scrape.just a few drops.before leaving,i put a couple of drops next to buck lure with doe urine.hang a cam nearby.check every two days and stay clear of stepping near scrape and leaving your scent.wqorks everytime to get the biggest bucks stirred up and checking things out.
