Strut10
Last year, by this time, I had gotten some good bucks on trail cam.........even a shooter or two. So far this year, I haven't gotten jack. Biggest deer is maaaaaybe a 14 incher. Everything else is absolute sub-scrub material. Sure hope something picks up or turns around. This is getting depressing.
Rhino
Don't get discouraged yet! Don't know why it is Strut but I usually don't seem to get a good one to step in front of a camera until August. Last year was an exception. Most years they seem to show up out of nowhere after velvet shedding. Usually when I do catch one I don't have a problem keeping tabs on him. There are some that vanish from time to time, never to been seen or caught on camera again though. Hang in there and keep moving your cameras around. toddyboman
Been the same for me Don. Getting lots of does and small bucks but nothing to make me get excited. However I don't put much stock in what I get in the summer as I know they will scatter as season starts and new bucks will show up..... but it is still frustrating!! dbHunterNY
biggest deer i got so far is a 18" wide 5 pointer that could possibly be a 6 with just a stubby brow tine. he's not old though, so there's got to be something else out there bigger. hoosierhunter
I'm hte same as Al and I don't get the big boys til august usually. Then they stick around til Sept and half of them move off to fall ranges.
Strut10
Last year, by this time, I had gotten some good bucks on trail cam.........even a shooter or two. Oops. My mistake. Just got to rifling through some pic files only to find I got my first "good" buck pic on 8/13 last year and my first two "shooter" bucks on 8/27 and 8/30. Just getting a little too antsy, I guess. Ravin R10 man
Bucks are still in the lay low mode...flies are biting and velvet is tender..think they are just holding out in a cool thick low spot near water
Ethan Givan
Bucks are still in the lay low mode...flies are biting and velvet is tender..think they are just holding out in a cool thick low spot near water I would have to agree. The only camera producing many pics for me is down in some thick bottom land just a few yards from a big creek. Getting lots of pics on it including the bucks I posted in the photography room. This heat is really keeping the deer movement down too.
