Tominator
Send a prayer up for my son tomorrow if you think of it. Docs found 2 small tumors on his pancreas, so out they come (along with his spleen) tomorrow morning at 9:30. Poor kid is only 17. Thanks folks, I sure appreciate it. Tominator
Thanks a bunch folks. We talked to the surgeon this morning, and after consulting with the doctor that did his pancreas ultrasound, it looks like the bigger of the two tumors (2 cm) is in an area that may allow the surgeon to leave the spleen and a lot of the pancreas he was planning on taking out. The other tumor is smaller, but it's in the head of the pancreas and kind of in a tricky area I guess. The hope is that the doc and just "pluck" them both out and preserve a lot of the pancreas. Joe is much better off than I was as I had 12 tumors and they were a bit bigger and 1 of them had gotten into a lymph node. On top of that, I guess the surgeons have developed a few new procedures in the last 5 years that will benefit Joe. Prognosis is good, it's just a shame he has to go through this at such a young age. In any event, I appreciate your thoughts and prayers. I'll keep y'all updated.

Tominator
Joe is out of surgery and doing well. Surgeon found another, very small (7mm) "lesion" out beyond the tail of the pancreas, so he ended up taking the spleen out too, but the rest of the surgery went very well, no surprises and the surgeon said he was very happy with the results.
