NS whitetail
I finally have a free hand.... the cast came off today and the pins came out of my thumb as well ( and it didn't even hurt when the DR. pulled them out, was I surprised ). I have no movement with the last joint of my thumb, it is stuck in a bent postion, but at least I still have it. The Dr. said that after some therapy and strenght training, I might get a little movement back.
ckrich
The therapy is the only chance you have at regaining strength and movement. On my first day of hand therapy, they were skeptical on how much function I would regain. The doctor flat out told me I would likely never be able to shoot a bow. I did everything the therapist asked of me, and when I felt like I could do more I did. Two months later I was learning archery. My point is, do everything they tell you, when they tell you, and push yourself a little. A little pain, a lot of hard work, and a good bit of luck you'll surprise the Doc's. Good luck, my thoughts and prayers are with you.

BearClaw
Hope everything continues to go well with your therapy. Follow their instructions and remember their "No, you won't be able to..." doesn't mean you can't!
