BamaTrae
I'm considering a move to Marshall County, Kentucky. I am wondering how hunting land is divided up there? Are there hunting clubs to join like here in Bama? I know the seasons are all mixed up, with archery running throughout the whole time and opnly a short rifle season. Could anyone fill me in on the usual practice for getting access to land? Thanks!
Ethan Givan
Im not familiar with the area of the state you are considering, but there isnt a lot of hunting clubs here in KY, or atleast not around here where I live. Most of the hunting land access is on private property that you get permission to hunt on from the owner. There are some public hunting lands, but a majority of hunters here hunt on privately owned farms or on their own farms that they own themselves. You just have to get out and get to know some farmers, and ask them if you can hunt. Our rifle season may only be 2 weeks long, but it falls right in the middle of November, which is when peak rut usually takes place, so its not that bad. Some of the best hunting I think is bowhunting that first week of November when all the gun hunters havent hit the woods, but rutting activity is really starting to heat up. HUNTINGMAN
What he said,KY has thousands of acres in public hunting land and there are some realy big deer taken from them every year. Land around here to hunt on is hard to come by,no one wants to let people on there property anymore
