Anyone ever watch the movie "Twister"?

It was one of my favorite movies as a kid. I just happen to be working 3 miles outside of the town that was destroyed in the movie....Wakita, OK. You sure wouldn't believe the town was the scene of a mega blockbuster movie back in 1995. It's one of the most desolate places I've ever been to. However "Twister" still lurks in the shadows at the Twister Cafe, and the Twister Muesem which is now open by appointment only. My helper and I settled for peeking in the glass and actually stood within a foot of the original "DORTHY I" tornado pack. There is debris from the movie, tons of pics from the production, and other stuff. Theres no sign that the town was ever ripped apart for the movie. Aunt Meg's house is no where to be found, and all the down town that was destroyed in the scene right after the F4 hit aunt Megs house is gone.

Anyways...it's nothing significant, but as one of my favorite movies....it's neat to set foot on the very ground it was made.

Ive seen that movie Countless Times... Most of the Okies Likely have.

I went through that area a few times while they were filming. Pretty neat. Oklahoma actually has a pretty good historty with movies and a few years ago there was a big push to move more this way. I dont know where it ended up but I know they were talking tax breaks, etc.

My grandparents live just a few miles west of there, on the Grant/Alfalfa county line. I do the majority of my deer hunting out there.

Until a couple of years ago, there was a sign on H-11 that read "See Wakita, Home of Twister!" The town seems to be slowly dying, as are many rural farming comminities today.

In the scene that shows the destroyed town after the tornado, specifically Main Street, have you ever noticed that none of the store front windows are broken?:shifty:
