RangerClay
Has anyone had a chance to use or see in use the Bear Apprentice? I'm concidering one for my 10 year old daughter. Bass Pro has them for $279 all set-up. Any pro's or con's? Edited August 10, 2011 by RangerClay
dbHunterNY
The optional pink camo one I'm sure is awesome. The one in plain camo is mostly likely not as good, must look slower, can't be as easy to shoot, and is just ugly. lol! Sorry Joe. that's all got and it's an assumption. It seriously does come in pink camo though.

Change your post before they ban you!:boo: LOL! I get what you're saying though. We had this talk already because this will probably be her first hunting bow. She actually told me that the pink model they offer, in her words was "ugly camo". If it had come in Realtree Pink we would have one. Now back to the subject at hand. Has anyone ever tried one? redkneck
I haven't Joe, but I looked at them, it looked like a great shooter. I just picked up 2 youth bows on ebay this past week for my twins that will be 12 on Saturday. I got a Parker buckshot and a browning micro midas 4, both loaded with all the accessories, arrows, and a release too. Look at the diamond razor edge before you buy, they shoot great! Perry
Not that model but bear makes great bows I shot the truth 2 a while and it was a nice bow. Maybe search around on youtube and see if you find any videos on it.

dbHunterNY
ok joking aside Joe here's what I got... I got a Diamond Edge (now Razor Edge) for my now fiance to shoot and my 20 yr old cousin also shot an 8 pointer last season with one. It's a little faster than the Bear models, 19-29" draw, about 25-60 pound draw weight, and 75% let off. Those specs might not fit her but I'm not sure. The Bear Appentice seemed pretty decent in comparison. One thing I liked is the back wall was a little more solid than my fiance's Edge. That will help a lot with her shooting and form. I've noticed my fiance creeping a good inch when she's shot in some cases. the Bear Home Wrecker isn't a bad bow either. It's basically the same thing looking at them side by side. It's just a tad bigger; half pound heavier, about 2" longer ATA, a little faster, and added string silencers (where the extra weight comes from). I only bring that one up because it's their women's bow (RT Max-1 with pink strings) and it's 80% let off, opposed to only 70%. Tuned well, I'd imagine they all shoot pretty good if she gets in some good practice.
ckrich
I've set up quite a few Apprentice bows for kids over the last year. It's lightweight and compact, something that's great for a young lady without a lot of upper body strength. At 15"-27" DL, 20-50 lbs. it's a highly adjustable bow, and no need for a press to adjust DL. The only possible downside that I can see, is that she may eventually out grow the bow size, not the weight or DL but the 27 1/2" ATA of the bow. Like DB posted, I too am a fan of the Diamond Razor Edge(mostly because you can't grow out of it). 19"-29" DL, 31" ATA. There are two sets of limbs availible with draw weights of 15-29 lbs. and 30-60 lbs. If she can't pull 30 and needs the lower set, when she out grows 29 lbs. Diamond offers a trade up program in which you send in the bow and about $50 and they put the 30-60 lb. limbs on for you. Also Dl adjustable without a press. Not a bad deal. It comes in full camo, or black riser and pink limbs(digital for 15-29 and Pink AP for 30-60). With this bow you can safely bet that she won't "out grow" it until she is old enough to buy her own.
