Swamphunter
I went to the sporting goods store to try and find some new bullets or sabots for my TC Thunderhawk .54 cal. Up until now I have always used round ball. The guy behind the counter talked me into these Powerbelt bullets in 295grs. He said that he sells a ton of them and has really good reviews. I have heard of them but have a couple questions. 1. Are they a decent bullet 2. How much of a powder charge should I use? 3. What type range should I get with these? I know that every gun shoots different bullets and loads differently, but I have to start somewhere after using round ball exclusively for 10 years. I also realize that most will probably recommend TC Shockwaves, but he didn't have any in .54 cal. That was my original intention was to buy the shockwaves. AJ
Re: Powerbelt bullets? If they shoot good for you they are a good bullet. I would start with th typical charge ~ 100 - 120 grains and work up to see what your gun likes. I would expect 125 yards with this setup. After that, range estimation becomes very critical. borch
Re: Powerbelt bullets? Probably one of the most popular bullets right now. The 295 HP powerbelts shoot very well in my rifle and has preformed very well on the deer it has shot. It all depends on what your rifle likes. Some do not shoot power belts well. There's lots of good bullets out there right now. So you'll just need to do some shooting to see what setup works in your gun. Borch
too_pointer
Re: Powerbelt bullets? Everyone in here who knows me knows I like powerbelts really well. They are a great, popular bullet. If they group well in your gun I consider them fine for ranges up to 135 yards or so. I think there are better suited bullets out there for some longer distances. My encore shoots well with them, many do not. If your guns groups them well they will certainly put the game down. too_pointer
robk
Re: Powerbelt bullets? i am using them in my encore and they are devistating. i went out today and shot some more for the opening next weekend and they are by far the best bullet i have found for shooting out of my gun. i clean between each round but did shoot two round groups on some as if i was in the field and they were touching each each other so i know if i need a 2nd shot i will be able to shoot them and be dead on. i have tried many different bullets but the powerbelt or blackbelt are excellent bullets and accurate rob k
