dbHunterNY
I'm getting married in close to a year and was thinking about doing a gun raffle for the wedding seeings how so many that will be there hunt. I was thinking a deer rifle would go over well. I think under $700 will do for a rifle or preferrably a package combo. I've already got some ideas. So what do you all think is the best deer rifle or rifle package out there for under $700?
Strut10
Weatherby Vanguard synthetic in your choice of flavors (I'd get a .300 Win Mag or .300 Wby and be done with it) topped with a 3x9 Burris Fullfield II. Hunt anything in N.A. with confidence for under $600 .......... $625 if you add in the mounts, rings and a sling.
jesse8953
I would go with a t/c venture in a .243 These guns are very accurate and it can be used for deer and critter hunting. Also a great round for women and kids to use.
MichiganHunter
cant go wrong with a good old remington mdl 700 in 30-06...good power and a great gun.
wtnhunt
One of those questions you ask that there really is not a wrong answer and you will get different answers and opinions. I would probably stay away from the scoped gun package deals like the model 770 though. cant go wrong with a good old remington mdl 700 in 30-06...good power and a great gun. Like the model 700's too, but that may push you over $700 with a scope. Would probably top whatever you get with a nikon monarch or buckmaster 3-9X40 scope. HUNTINGMAN
There are many brands out there that are well worth the money and some that aren't. It all depends on the fit and finish you want.

Adjam5
Id say go American made and go with the TC Venture in 243, 7mm08 or 308. Id stay with the short actions to keep the gun light. While Browning and Weatherby make some quality accurate rifles...Where those firearms are made they are NOT allow to own them. Nuff said. A Redfield Revolution scope( made by Leupold) in 3x9x50 will cost around $150 and the rings about another $25. That should keep you in your range of $700. I think that is a great idea to do something like that at a wedding. Quite original in my eyes. Good Luck and Congrats.
hunterbobb
I would go with the Remington 700 CDL in 270. Has to be the best deer rig in the world. :gun2:

Thanks Anthony. We'd basically sell tickets before the big day and announce the winner at some point midway through the reception.
toddyboman
I'm a big fan of TC and Remington rifles. Either should be great. 270, 30.06 are great deer rounds and ammo is very easy to find, so I would stick with one of those 2 calibers. I have to agree sounds like an awesome idea. Can I buy a ticket online :D:D Good luck and congrats.

snapper
I did a raffle for my brother's benefit... Bought a Weatherby stainless vanguard in. 257wby. No scope... Made almost $1200 and paid right around $650 for the gun. I ate the cost of the gun because it was for my brother... But I sold tickets... 1 for $5 or 3 for $10. victor3ranger
Three rifles come to mind right off the bat. Howa 1500, excellent rifle for around $450-$500. Marlin XL7 or XS7 for around $350 with the scope, excellent rifle if you float the barrel. Next is thte TC Venture, another excellent rifle. pruts
... But I sold tickets... 1 for $5 or 3 for $10. I've bought fundraiser tickets for gun, outdoor clubs, around here for that price. Seems fair to me. Good luck with your wedding.

wtnhunt
While I am not a fan of gander mountain or their typical pricing, they have some pretty decent deals going on right now you might want to check out. Just got a flyer in the mail Friday, Remington model 700 adl in several calibers for $429 with a $50 manufacturer rebate taking the price to $379 after the rebate, that deal comes with a scope. I've decided to wait until after the season. There isn't a rush to sell tickets a little over a year in advance. Also, I know of some local gun shops having sales closer toward Nov. Also, I'm in a few gun raffles too. I'll keep everyone updated. Thanks again for the suggestions.
LETMGROW
Sounds good to me. :D That seems to be the going rate around here too.... I don't want to be the bearer of bad news here, but you had better look into the legalities of raffles. Especially the sales across state lines. stcif
I bought my TC Venture in .308 for well under $500.00 this year. I shot it for the first time last week. Shot accurately enough, but the bolt works hard.

For a 60 degree lift it seemed a little slower. heard they are good accuracy wise.

Lynn also part of the reason i'm not just going and buying something that will be called in with my name associated with it. i may end up going through a shop instead of a big box store because of that.
