VermontHunter
As some may know I had my Bushnell Trophy Cam setup ( $300 plus ) stolen a couple weeks ago and I've been searching for a economical solution to keep a trail cam going for my pleasure and just maybe catch a thief and retrieve some stolen property. I've come across this little item that just may be the ticket to my problem. GG Telecom - TINY-W Camera This unit isn't priced too bad either ( $299.00 ) ,,, The funds aren't available now, so guess I had better start saving my pennies now for next season ... stevebeilgard
sorry to hear someone stole your trail cam. did you check with your homeowners insurance? it may have been insured. certainly worth a call. 300 bucks for a cheap mini cam seems high. have you been on ebay looking for a trail cam? VermontHunter
Actually Steve I got a decent deal on this setup .. The Bushnell Trail Cam was $ 199.00 the Lock Box was $25.00 and the Python Cable was another $ 25.00 The Master Lock was $18.00 and another $ 22.00 for shipping ... Good Trail cameras can go pretty high in price. That's why I want / need one that I can use to catch a thief, and try and protect my investment. This SpyPoint Cam seems to be the ticket in that area, at what seems to be a decent price. I didn't think Home Owners would pay for a hunting item left in the woods, so I never called, to be honest ..
Adjam5
I have not owned any Spypoint cams Luke, but I have a friend who swears by them. Looks like a good set up to catch a thief.

ruttinbuc
That looks like a nice set up, Luke. Hopefully, you will be able to catch the scum who stole your Bushnell.
Jeramie
If it works as intended that is a sharp setup!
wtnhunt
Hope you can catch them Luke. Steve actually has a good point on the homeowners insurance. If the cam was on your property it might be covered, if not I had seen on a site I used to visit for building cams where guys had insurance policies for their homebrew cams added on their homeowners and the rates were pretty reasonable. Rhino
Cool idea Luke...thanks...something else I may have to consider trying out now. Just bought another Reconyx Hyperfire. 2 of my old Cuddes are eating batteries at the rate of a set/week so they are on borrowed time at best...if I don't just shoot them & stop my hip from bleeding $. Steve actually has a good point on the homeowners insurance. If the cam was on your property it might be covered Yep...worth making the call! toddyboman
yes Luke call your homeowners we had to pay the deductible but we got some money back when we had one of our cuddes stolen a few years ago. As for the spypoint that sure looks and sounds like a great idea!!
VermontHunter
The wife just called our Home Owners and they would / will cover it, but unfortunately our deductable is $250.00 making a claim just about useless, considering the setup was only about $300.00 ... I do want to try out this Spy Point camera, so I'll just have to figure out a way to save the funds, with the wife looking at hip surgery in the near future this could be tough ... If anyone happens to get one before me ,, let me know how it works out for ya, from the reviews I've been reading this unit is doing an awsome job in the woods .. PotashRLS
Luke, I had an early day Non-Typical brand (Original name of Cuddeback) film camera stolen one year in August. It was $400 at the time and had a programmer I used to operate it. The camera was useless without the programmer. So I decided to put up a large sign on the fenceline at the road where it was stolen. The sign asked the person to return my camera as it will not work without my programmer. Two weeks later the camera was hanging upside down on the same tree it was originally stolen from. Because the camera was hung upside down, the rain got in it and fried it. So they may as well kept it. Dumb!!!!! I also tried the homeowners insurance route and my agent (American Family Ins.) told me it was not covered. I hate thiefs. They leave folks feeling violated and sick to their stomachs. I hope you get some closure buddy.
VermontHunter
I hate thiefs. They leave folks feeling violated and sick to their stomachs. I hope you get some closure buddy. The thing that bothers me the most is that they have ZERO care as to what I / people go through to obtain the possesions we have ... I saved one whole summer putting what I could away here and there to buy this setup. It may not seem like much to some, but funds are super tight in my household, just about every available dollar goes to my wifes medical expenses. I know it sounds like I'm whinning, but it just frustration ... I'm over it and will somehow figure out how to replace the trailcam, it may take me some time but I will get it replaced, and hopfully this camera I'm looking at will help me catch this dirtbag thief .. And I'll post his picture everywhere I can, letting everyone know what he's all about ...
