col3
Im sighting in my arrows with broad heads now, as i have been shooting with feild points all summer, and i had to adjust because my broad heads ( muzzy mx3's) were shooting low, but now they seem to be shooting to the left, and im wondering if the blades need to match the vanes? do they actualy need to line up like some people have told me, or does it not matter like some other people have told me, it may of just been me cause i had been shooting alot and could of gotten tired and started to not have as good form after shooting lots of arrows, but regardless im trying to figure out about the blades matching the vanes and if it really matters, thanks guys. jcot2773
a little about your set up would tell me a lot of what needs to happen to correct arrow flight a properly tuned bow should shoot the same with field points and broadheads. Muzzy's are notoriously hard to get to tune and will show any flaw in bow tune based on arrow flight. What bow, rest, arrow combo, draw length etc? dbHunterNY
lining up the vanes with the blades is not necessary if the bow is tuned right. i've shot muzzy mx-4 and 3 blades fine in the past. what is important for the most accuracy is that all your arrows are exactly the same. Jake is right, any info you can give will help figure out if there's a problem that moving the rest or nock point won't fix.
col3
I shoot a Martin pantera bow, with a whisker biscuit, carbon impact fat shaft 6000 arrows with blazer vanes, 31.5 inch draw length, and im in no way trying to toot my own horn, but I was shooting deadly with my field points over the summer, I broke the record for thehigh score at my local 3D range this summer, so it not lack of practice or that my bow is outta wack
dbHunterNY
not sure what the "fat shaft" is but if you're not shooting quite a bit of overdraw and around 50 lbs then you might be under spined which would show up switching to broadheads. also if you're shooting well then you can group with an out of tune bow. it just won't be as forgiving or your groups will shift with a change in distance. that's what i've found anyway. if your broadheads and shafts spin true then i don't think i've got any other suggestions. hope you get things figured out. huntinsonovagun
Check out Easton's broadhead tuning guide. You've got an easy fix to get your broadheads shooting right with your field tips. You'll have it figured out in 20 minutes or less. Good luck. jcot2773
Ok what length are the arrows cut to and draw weight? Assuming its a 30 inch arrow and anywhere from 60 to 70lbs you are definitely underspined. Also, shooting great with field points doesn't mean squat when the broadhead won't fly right. Sorry, not meaning to sound sarcastic but if you cannot duplicate the same shot with both heads then something on the set up isn't right. col3
Went in and switched to grim reapers and I'm shooting fine now, was a quick fix considering I leave on an elk trip tonight, thanks for the advice th guys
dbHunterNY
Good luck again! when you come back you should go to where you got your current shafts and see if you can try shooting a 6500 shaft. sounds like it could be an under spined arrow like i said before.
