Bowtech_archer07
Hey everyone, today while shed hunting, I found a skull that has really long canines and is too big to be a coyote. Dad thinks it's a hog, but I don't know. If anyone could tell me where I could find a diagram of a hog or large dog skull, I'd really appreciate it. Also if anyone might know what it is, i'd appreciate that too. I'm in IL, so keep that in mind.

Mach1
Re: hog skull A photo would really help. I had to learn all about animal skulls in a couple of my classes in college. My initial thought might be a hog. Where in IL are you? Does it look anything like this?? or this?

Gus
Re: hog skull Here is the pic for you I think that it is the lower jaw of a hog, it is just a younger hog or sow and the teeth are not not as long/big as what an older boar hog will get. MossySNPR
Re: hog skull A couple of years ago while creek fishing, I came upon a dirty orange garbage bag that was filled. I hauled it out to the edge of the road to throw it in my truck and put it with my dump pile back home. The bag seemed very suspicious so I broke it open and found tons of bones, I'm thinking great, all I want to do is fish and I find a dead body(LOL). After looking through the bones, I found three canine skulls and three sets of jawbones. I put together the best skull, best jaw bones and best canine teeth I could and decided to keep it and clean it. Tossed the bag in the back of my truck and went home, cleaned up my skull with bleach and an old toothbrush. Glued teeth in. Anyways I was curious as to what it was, so I took it to the local vets and the veterinarian said that it was pup wolf, not even a year old. Those three wolves in the bags were poached. The skull still sits on display in my little outdoors section of my house. Just thought I'de tell my skull story!
Doc
Re: hog skull Well, as long as were getting into skull stories, I have to tell you about the 7 point buck skull that I found down in the bottom of our 150' deep ravine. There was a big piece of antler embedded in the skull just under the eye socket. I'm not sure whether that was what killed him or whether he got knocked down into that ravine. The ravine walls at that point of the creek are straight up and down shale. Anything slipping down over that is just plain dead meat!
