Squirrelhunter91
Here's a few pics of a buck I have no history with. I just gained permission to hunt this piece of land last year. I took 3 does and had a few shot opportunities at smaller bucks but elected to let them go as I am the only person hunting this piece, I knew they'd make it so long as they didn't get hit by a car. I pulled my card out of my trail cam this afternoon and on my digital camera it looked to be a good buck. When I got home and blew the pics up on the computer, I started to have a dilemma. I'm not quite sure how old this buck is. I can put him at 3 years old for sure but not entirely sold on 4 years old. 4 to me means he's ripe for picking and 3 means he gets at least another year. What say you folks? Is he just a 3 year old with good genetics that deserves another year or two or is he ready to receive a shaft through the lungs? I love, love, love his curled tines and his left G3. And heres another pic of a nice 2 year old with short tines. Hope he adds length with age:
Rhino
It's really too hard to say from those 4 pics.
hoosierhunter
somewhere between 1.5 and 10.5..........
wtnhunt
I could not guess based on those pics Joe. Gimme a more broadside angle and I would guess. Deer looks real boney and almost sick though. Second buck there looks to have a pretty solid square body from what I can see of your pic, much more healthy deer. NBomb500
Well, I'm not an expert but either the buck has really bad genetics, he is really old and on the way out, or he is young. I'm leaning toward young although it is hard to tell from the pictures and he looks pretty thin. I'd say 2.5 maybe 3.5. Second buck has some good potential in another year or two! Squirrelhunter91
As soon as I get better pics I'll put em up. These are the first I've gotten of him.
Tominator
Too tough to say Joe. His hips are looking pretty bony...he might be putting a lot of his food energy into that rack. Based on that, I'd say he's 3.
fly
I've seen skinny does with a couple fawns look like that, but never a buck. I'd let him walk - and I'll go with 2.5years. However, he may not make it another year. deer generally lose a significant portion of body fat during the rut.
