Rhino
Hello teammates...checking in too. Team names...anything is fine with me as long as it's not "Dawg Gone Its"...sorry Cory...couldn't resist. Season opens 10/1 for me too. Just got back from our hunting camp. Unfortunately, I didn't get to do any stand work but got 4 cams running now. Tropical storm Lee made it impossible to do stand prep work. Swapped a card on one cam I already had out. Got 3 potential shooters on it that appear to be some of the same bucks I had on cams last year. Last year one was a 3.5 year old & the other 2 were mature. This year's head gear is...one's an 8 & the other 2 appear to have 10 scorable points, one a typical. Sort of wondering on the typical 10 though. Last year he was a main frame 10 with short kickers off both G2's. Can't tell if he has any of those kickers again this year or not...he's just too far from the trail cam or in the wrong position to tell. Got 2 cams set to keep tabs on those bucks now. 92xj
Team name - The Clique I just got home from hunting hard this weekend. Didnt manage to let an arrow fly, but I still have time. I am holding out for a Monster deer I have on cam. If I dont get him this early season, I still have two more late archery seasons to get after him. I'm also headed to Wyoming for 8 days the beginning of October to hunt with Steve B. The weekend after I get home from Wyo. I head to Southeastern Idaho for a Muley hunt. Hopefully something good happens with all of these hunts. If no bucks, I have 5 days in December doe hunt in Wa. Time will tell, goodluck team. I might post up some pics of the monster I'm after in Wa. but I dont wanna give myself any badluck....decisions decisions.
gzilla45
Sept 17 opener for me although it will be early October before I start deer hunting. I drew a bear tag this year so I'll be spending the last few weekends in September chasing them instead.
Dawg
Hello teammates...checking in too. Team names...anything is fine with me as long as it's not "Dawg Gone Its"...sorry Cory...couldn't resist. Man....that was my second choice too.... :bummed: I'm going to check the trail cam tomorrow.....really hope I have something on there. Dawg
Morning team. Temps are in the mid 50's this morning....my neck is starting to swell!
Rhino
Morning team. Temps are in the mid 50's this morning....my neck is starting to swell! Same here...that coupled along with these trail cam pics I dowloaded from the card I pulled out of my Cudde Friday afternoon. I now have 2 cams running to try to keep tabs on these bucks...a Reconyx and a Cudde. I need to get some closer pics of the main frame 10. I'm pretty sure he's the one I had pics of last year when he had kickers off both G2's. Can't tell if he has them this year or not yet. The 8 point appears to be one of the two 4.5 year old bucks I caught in this area last year. I think the split G2 buck was a 3.5 year old last year. He had a kicker off that same G2 last year. He also has a kicer off his right G2 this year.
Dawg
Those are some nice bucks Al. I'm going to the lease today to pull my card. I haven't had anything on it for the past few weeks so I'm hoping the rain and cooler temps had the deer up and moving around.
92xj
Sunday morning when I got on stand it was 36 degrees, it was amazing. This weekend looks like its going to be in the mid 40s with a high around 90, Gross. Hopefully my big boy walks out. Havent got him back on cam in a while, so who knows. I wish it would just go on and snow and kill off all the undergrowth. This weekend will be the last weekend to hunt this whitetail till Thanksgiving, hopefully it all works out. And here he is..... Rhino
DANG BEN!!! I'd be planning more time to get after him! That's a once in a lifetime buck for most hunters. Looks like he's close to 170 gross...at least to me. You feeling like you need to take some sick leave yet?
gzilla45
Good luck getting after that big boy. Wow is that a nice deer.

Looks like he's close to 170 gross...at least to me. You feeling like you need to take some sick leave yet? Yeah, I might just have to pull the ol sick leave card. The problem is with this states crazy hunting regs. I can only bow hunt this year. I get three seasons to hunt, the first one is right now till Sept20th and then back in on Thanksgiving to Dec 15th. Rifle hunt is between those dates so I am just hoping and praying no one gets him or he doesnt get pushed off during rifle season. Time will tell. He is for sure a once in a life time deer. Sounds like the iron men will have the advantage of hunting the pre-rut & the rut. That is assuming you're sharing the same place with gun hunters. Hope you get him! Good luck! mikewink
Nice deer guys! I need to stop working so much and get out in the woods. I agree about the neck swelling thing, my wife walked by the other day and my lip started curl. She slapped me! :crutch:
WGumz
Guys, those are some great looking bucks in the cam pics. Good luck with those. You guys will have your hands full trying to get them and even more so when you stick them trying to get them to and in your truck. I have some cams out, one on the farm and one in my backyard. Nothing great to talk about or even post, just does. I can't wait for the season to start, the temps really dropped the past couple days, 101 saturday to a high of 80 on Sunday, so it really has the fever starting. Take care, I will check back in. Keep them cam pics coming. Wade
jm23494
Just checking in things in PA don't open up until October 1st. Still have a few tree stands to get hung between now and then and of course check the cameras. The rain has been coming down good here for the last 2 weeks or so, so it should be interesting to see how it effects deer movement over the next few weeks. c_lou
Finally getting a chance to check in. Season starts Sept. 17th for me. Good Luck team. Any team name is good by me. If we want to slide in any reference to the 2 Corey's, I am good with that as well.:poke:
Rhino
I don't know Lou..."Cory Squared" doesn' sound too good. JK :clown: Like I said before...whatever name suits y'all is fine by me. I'm heading to camp this afternoon to try to catch up on stand prep work. The weather is just too nice not to go. I need 2 stands for different winds where I got those pics. So far I only have 2 of my 10 bow stands ready to hunt. I may have to take an 11th stand I have here at home that I keep in reserve for road trips. I can always pull it later before I hit the road for Kansas. I'll be back Sunday afteroon...hopefully with some more pics & hopefully some new bucks in them too. See ya later!
