I think this has been the longest I have went without hunting. I have stayed out of the woods on purpose. Our gun season starts this Saturday and I wanted to keep the woods as human scent free as possible. I know there are a couple other big bucks roaming around where I shot my 9 pointer.

I have been shooting my gun as much as possible. I think I have blown through at least 4 boxes of shells, so if I happen to miss, I know it's not the gun's fault. Although I will still use that as my excuse.

Looks like I have made a goof guys. The camera that I have a pic of me and my doe on doesn't have a SD card in it. It's an older camera so the newer GB cards that I have don't work in it. I don't have the USB cable that connects the camera to the computer either, therefore I can't transfer the pic from the camera to the computer to enter it in the contest. I'm gonna try to locate an older MB SD card or a USB cable that will fit the camera.

**EDIT**......I found a USB cable....it's all good now. I'll have my photos entered shortly.

Not sure what is going on here this last 10 days, but all I can tell you is team 8 is on a roll. Good job team!

Our rifle season starts tomorrow. I won't be hunting until Friday or Saturday. But when I start hunting I won't stop except to eat turkey on Thanksgiving. I'll be in the woods for 10 days. Or until I nail a big one.

2/3rds of my property is the bedding area for the surrounding area. So I like to stay out of the woods for a week or so before rifle season. And for the first couple days. It creates a little haven. Then when the wind is right I strike....

Here you go guys. Got him posted in the contest entry thread. Only deer I saw Sunday night was this guy, didn't quite make it into the bait before he took a rage in the cage. Hit him really high though and didn't break the hide on other side so there wasn't much blood to track, just happen to stumble upon him while we were doing half circles from last blood. Team 8 for the win!

I'm re-organizing and packing my gear for my Kansas bowhunt. Leaving here early Saturday and I'll hit the woods Sunday morning to hang stands there. Doubt I'll be able to hunt Sunday with getting 3 stands set & ready to go but who knows. I'll have a climber in reserve if I need it. I'll spend all day in the woods while I'm there through the following Saturday or if I fill my buck tag...whichever happens 1st.

Upgrading will be real tuff but who knows up there. Got an email from my taxidermist yesterday...he's already got 4 animals from me this year to mount (my 12 point & my 3 bow kills from Africa). His email said..."I'm looking forward to mounting your KS B&C buck". LMBO I'll try not to disapoint him!

Good luck teammates!

With all my family celebrating Thanksgiving in South Carolina and me being stuck across the country, I will be hitting the woods for my late season archery season Thanksgiving morning. The dog and I are headed up Wednesday night and going to stay till Sunday. Looking for an upgrade. I will be cooking something Thanksgiving day for the dog and I trying to keep my mind off of being 3000 miles away from all my family...sucks...but thats life. Hopefully a monster will walk out in front of me and I can add some points. I will give it my all, team.

I'll be hunting in Unit 11 Mike. It's in the eastern part of Kansas SW of Kansas City.

I hunted Unit 9 & 10 several years ago. Great deer on the outskirts of Kansas City. Actually, if you go to the Park in Lenexa there are some monster bucks walking around. I am looking to hit Kansas again maybe next year. My brother lives in Kansas City. He is actually coming up here to hunt next week go figure :)

Good luck again I hope you get a monster!

92xj may your Thanksgiving bring you a buck with multiple brow tines, a matched set of drop tines, and the mass an elk just because you are away from your family.....:gun2:

I won't be that far north Mike. I'm staying in Iola, KS. Where I'm hunting is a 30 minute or so drive NE of there and ~80 miles SW of Kansas City. Iola has the most options for places to eat at night compared to any town or city in that part of Kansas.

I hear ya Ben...I usually don't plan to hunt on the road during Thanksgiving either. I had no choice this year. I'll be in a tree too. Hope a dream buck passes by you up there.

I'll try to check in through my iphone if I can get a strong enough signal. Cell service sucks where I'm going.

Good luck to you guys hitting the Wisconsin opener. Seems that the chase is kinda going here in the U.P. Sat last night with the wife and saw 6 different bucks. Rhino good luck in Kansas. What portion of the state are you going to be hunting in. Good luck to every one.

Mike

Where in the UP are you Mike? I'm in Marquette.

...and JCWA counts the score for Corey's doe

I PM'd him two days ago asking if my entry was up to par. Haven't heard anything back from him.

I'll be out at the lease in the morning, then getting my river runner and heading down the river. There's a Black Gum tree that is said to have a circumference of 23'.....as in feet. Gonna go scope it out. Bringing the gun along too, never know what might pop out down there in the river bottom.

I am actually in Menominee County. The banana belt the U.P. I hunt 5 miles north of Menominee.

For those of you who don't know where Menominee, MI is, go as far north to the middle of no where that you can get. That will put you in Menominee, go 3 1/2 hours farther north you hit Marquette, MI, go an hour north of there you hit Calumet, MI. Go 5 minutes north of there you are in Alaska. :D

So I have not been having a very good rifle season. I finally figured out where the deer have been hiding. I crawled into the stand about 2:30 tonight about 45 minutes before dark my neighbor pulled up to glass my field as he has field right next to mine. He normally won't do that if he knows I'm out. But my truck was behind the house due to the fact I had carried in a load of wood today. He sat there glassing for about 30 minutes. Then left. When he left he cleared the field all but ending the hunt.

Just as I was getting ready to climb out of the stand I saw a flash heading to my mom's duck hutch. She has lost a couple ducks in the last couple weeks. I evened up the score a little.......7mm mag... :gun2:

Went out Saturday and didn't see hide nor hair. No pics on the cam. I think they were hunkered down with the does and not moving much. Gonna try tomorrow evening.

The scoreboard was updated 11/15/11, Slash's upgrade was scored but my doe wasn't and I submitted my pics 34 minutes before Slash did his. Wonder if JCWA overlooked mine or what? Still no reply on my PM I sent to him on the 15th.

Well....I was going to head up to the land first thing in the morning but I happened to go scout some ducks last night and found about 1500 new mallards in my honey hole, Dropped 7 of them in 15 minutes and got out of there. Have to hold off on driving up in the morning and head to the hole to hammer some more ducks before deer can happen.
