Team 8....The Clique

I'm game for whatever on the name. I still like "The Clique".

Washing clothes now and packing up gear. Will be heading out again Friday afternoon Saturday and Sunday morning. I hope to sit in the stand all 3 days, but it is bear season and my hunting partner killed a 375lb 6ft bear last weekend where i did some scouting for him. Might try and get out there one morning to get my own. I also have a good friend that is wanting to kill an elk with his bow and I located a herd last weekend, so I might try and guide him as well, so my deer hunting may be cut a little short. Not sure what will happen or what I will do, but I will be out trying to kill something.

I haven't put the cam anywhere else on the lease. The spot it has been in is the spot I got most of my pics at last year. What's strange is, 50 yards up the road the deer are crossing and some are coming out of the woods and walking through the food plot area (not planted yet) that the cam is next to, which is about 40 yards to the right.

hmmmm....maybe take it away then. If they arent using it, I would hate for it to scare away your deer. My deer come to my water in my tanks and drink all 60 gallons of it in 4 days. It took them about 4 hours after putting them out to use them. Maybe your deer are afraid or something.

Goooooood Morning.

This morning is dragging bad. Going to sneak out of here around noon. Get on the road at 12:30 and should be in my treestand by 4:30. Not going to my honey hole since I will be getting there around the time I have the deer on pics and when I started seeing them all last weekend. Dont want to bump them going on. So, not sure where I am going to sit.

Yeah, when I have a 3 hour drive to my hunting land and then getting dressed, getting gear thrown in my back pack and heading to the stand. Takes a while.

Way to hot this weekend, only saw 3 does and one spike. Did find some nice fresh rubs 30 yards from my stand so that was a good sign. Looks like the first season is over for me, wont be able to get after any Wa deer till end of November and December, hopefully the big boys makes it past rifle season.

Back home. Tropical Storm wasn't too friendly to us. A fair amount of trees are down across our interior roads on our place. My chainsaw got a workout...until it broke down yesterday morning. Had a real close call with a tree barely missing one of my stands. I know one guy that lost a ladder stand already. There will probably be more discovered when hunters show up to check them.

Got 3 new stands hung and a groundblind built. Pulled 2 cams Friday while hanging 2 stands and making a ground blind on this alyce clover field. No pics of bucks close to the camera but I sure can't complain. Here's 2 pics out of the 575 I got on my Reconyx. I had to crop them out of the pics due to the distance from the camera. The tree with the red dot on it has one of my stands hanging in it. This group of bucks, well there's more that didn't fit into the cropped pics, seems to be favoring the side of the field that stand is on. My other stand is on the same side the cam was set on.

In all 3 out of the 7 days the 10 point showed up during daylight hours. Hope he continues that trend. Can't complain considering it was usually another deer or critter setting off the cam since they were closer to the other side.

My cam is on the same side checking for activity coming into the E end of this field by my other stand. I'll move it this weekend close to the tree where my stand is hangin that's shown in the pics.

Morning guys, sorry I haven't been on here much, been busy with work and the little guy. We have a couple small buck roaming the property but nothing spectacular like Ben and Al have that's for sure. Ben, I thought you had until the 20th to hunt that monster you have on cam? Good luck with the public land Dawg, when are you sitting? I leave MI Thursday evening with the family for WI. Have a little work to do around the farm (hanging stands, checking cards) and then we're set to sit Saturday morning. Good luck everybody!

I do have one more weekend to hunt this early season, but I will be out of town this weekend and cant make it up to the hunting land during the week with work. So, my early season for him is done. Which sucks, but then again, maybe the late season with the snow and rut happening will bring him in or one of his brothers.

That's an interesting plan Cory. Hope the lake drain proves to be as good as it feels to you.

Slash...hope your hunt in WI is as good as it was last year. Shoot straight!

Bummer your early season is almost done Ben. Before you know it you'll be in Wyoming though. 8 days is a lot of time to get it done there. I did a spot & stalk bowhunt in Wyoming about 12 years ago. It was a blast glassing and stalking them...bagged my muley on the 5th day. Missed on my 1st opportunity on the 3rd day too.

I can't climb a tree until Oct. 1. I pray we get cooler weather by then. It was feeling darn good last week but the heat has returned and we are back in the upper 90's/low 100's again.

Bummer, we've actually got a cold front on the way, mid 60's today through saturday, though i really wish it would snow lol

Yeah, I'm hoping I can get it done in Wyoming. My first priority is getting Dad on a deer and then me. We also have two antelope tags each as well, so hopefully we can get everything filled in the 8 days there.

The heat killed me this weekend. Last weekend is was high of mid to upper 60s and lows in the mid 30s. This past weekend the highs with in the upper 90s and lows in the 60s. It was horrible and shut the deer down.
