Rhino
Packing starts tonight for Wyoming. The next 8 days are going to go by so slow. I hear ya. That's usually the way it is for me but right now I have plenty to keep me busy until 10/1 and later too. I'm working on some things with my best friend that should be very lucrative. I'm still planning to take off the 1st week of October to bowhunt here but it sounds like he won't shake loose until the afternoon of Oct. 2nd. My time in the woods may be a little more limited this year than it has been. I should still be able to put close to 20 days in bowhunting MS before I head to Kansas on Nov. 19th though. Things should slow down after Dec. 1st as we begin to get closer to the MS rut.
92xj
Got word last night from my hunting partner that he almost ran into a 140+ 9pt after he went into the gate at the hunting land here in Wa. Hopefully he makes it through rifle season, Oct 15-Nov 18, and walks by my stand in the late archery season. It will be hard to let an arrow fly at him with the big 15pt in the back of my mind, but who knows what will happen.
Dawg
This will be the longest week of the year! Season begins this Saturday for me and I can't wait! I'm going to hunt the public land on Saturday. Not sure why, I just have a feeling about it. I have my climber ready and will be out there before the sun rises. 92xj
Good luck buddy. I understand about this being the longest week. I head out Thursday night for my drive to Wyoming to hunt the Saturday opener as well. No new updates from me. I fished all weekend. Caught a 38lbs salmon and a 9ft 350-400lbs strugeon. It was a good day.
Rhino
I hear ya...will be a long week for several reasons to me. Hope to head to camp Thursday night so I can do a few chores Friday and check & move a few trail cameras around from & to spots where the wind won't bed right for a few days. Got a few updates on the cams but they're at night. The 10 point I've been trying to keep tabs on is the same one I was after last year. I thought it was probably him. He has kickers off both G2's. The G4's are longer than last year and the kickers appear to be too. He's still in velvet so mass is impossible to determine right now. Last year he shed his velvet the last week of Sept. I cropped out this group of pics from lasty week's run. Left the cam there. This wide 8 point showed up last week for the 1st time at the same cam set. Season opens Saturday. I'm planning on hunting the 1st 8 1/2 days of the season. Fingers crossed!
Dawg
That's a hoss, Al! Hope he makes the mistake of crossing your path! Temps are looking ok for me. Saturday morning they are calling for a low of ~59/60 and high's in the mid 80's. I can live with that I guess.
Rhino
That's a hoss, Al! Hope he makes the mistake of crossing your path! He's exceptional for this area. Had a near close encounter once last year till 4 young pigs decided to come trotting through. One of the pigs didn't make it due to an arrow thrown in anger. That was the only time I saw him. Here's what he looked like last year. Just gimme one more chance this year please! Edited September 26, 2011 by Rhino
AceArcher
Real nice buck..I hope you stick him this year. I haven't gotten any good pics of bucks on my cams but I know they are out there. Oct. 1 is just a few days away...need to get my bow out this week and shoot a few arrows. Pretty much has snuck up on me.

92xj
Going through pics now. Got two new bucks on camera as well as my big boy again. One 9 and one 10. If they walk in front of me I will give them a pass in hopes of seeing the big boy. If all else fails I will take a doe the last day of season for some meat and to take a doe out. I just hope all these bucks make it through rifle season that starts in two weeks. And, im good for whatever on a name. I like to stir the pot and get reaction, thats why I came up with the clique. If someone doesnt like it, think of something else and lets name the team already.

Dawg
True. As this week DRAGS by, I find myself very useless here at work and home. All I think about is Saturday morning......man I'm so flippin ready!! Got my camcorder out last night and watched some of my Colorado footage from last year....and that got me all pumped up for the trip this year. Didn't realize how fat I looked on camera either.....guess it's diet time.
AceArcher
shot the bow a little tonight. Still got it. Ready for opening day. Might do a few sits early in October but trying to keep myself contained for hard core action in November. Got to keep the wife happy and don't want to get your angry b/f the rut kicks in. Can't stand hearing that bs...when the bucks are on their feet during the day chasing does. Good luck to everyone this season...lets get it done and show the other teams how its done! WGumz
Nothing changed here. Just waiting for Saturday. Has to be one of the longest weeks of the year. Nothing changing on the trail cams, just does and a few small bucks. Been shooting quite a bit the last couple weeks and everything is good there. Team name sounds good to me. Looks like everyone has some nice bucks to be looking out for when season comes. Good luck to all this weekend. Wade
Rhino
Heading back home from LA today to load up my gear and head to camp either tonight or early tomorrow morning. Just a few last minute things to do tomorrow. Weather looks GREAT for our opener Saturday. It looks like it will be the 1st time the season will open on a cool day where you can see your breath. Should get the bucks on their feet earlier in the afternoon than our usual warm muggy opening days. Should be fun! Morning hunts will probably be doe smacking time. Internet access will be very limited to non-existent while I'm there. Cell phone coverage is poor at best but if I can get a strong enough signal I'll check in with my iphone. Dawg
Yep the weather looks to be on our side as well Al. Low for opening moring is supposed to be in the upper 50's. I'll take that!
c_lou
Got a short sit in last night. I sat on the edge of a cut hay field and CRP grass field. Saw a few deer. I am looking foward to a hard freeze, get rid of those nasty bugs. The fill story is in my blog.
jm23494
Well I was looking forward to opening day Saturday, now they are calling for more rain here in PA. It feels like we are living in Oregon or Washington with all the rain that we have had. So far we broke the record for the month by more than 10". The deer movement has been all out of whack so its hard to say what may happen on Saturday.
Rhino
Ahhhh...cooler air moving in now! Forecast shows for lows in the mid 40's through Monday with highs in the mid to upper 70's. GREAT! Doesn't get like that here this time of year. Then lows in the mid 50's with highs into the low 80's till the end of next week. That's still cooler than usual here. Good luck to everyone hitting the woods this weekend. I'll hang in there through next week.
