Ahhhh...cooler air moving in now! Forecast shows for lows in the mid 40's through Monday with highs in the mid to upper 70's. GREAT! Doesn't get like that here this time of year. Then lows in the mid 50's with highs into the low 80's till the end of next week. That's still cooler than usual here.

Good luck to everyone hitting the woods this weekend. I'll hang in there through next week.

Nice!!

Forcast changed a little for me. Lows will be in the lower 50's Saturday morning. I likey!!!

Yesterday I walked into the area I will be hunting and found two small rubs and a good sized ground scrape. Put out some of those refelctive tacks so I could find the tree in the dark. I am stoked!!

Good luck and be safe out there!!

Went out and sat Saturday night. I had some action but no shots. My FIL got a pretty nice 10 pointer that same night. My night's story is in my blog.

It is warm up this way, high today of 80. I have seen a ton of deer on my way to work in the morning. I am not much of a morning person, but I might try and get out one of these mornings.

Believe it or not fellas I just got out to the timber for the first time today. Season started last weekend and I have been so swamped with work I haven't been able to even get out to the new hunting ground. My son and I went out and threw up a couple stands and scope the place out today on the four wheeler. This place is amazing!! Should produce something I would think. I got a doe tag to fill up so I will pop the first antlerless one that goes by then buck hunt the remainder of the year. Going to sit tomorrow morning and evening and see whats moving where, probably take a few sits scouting to get a handle on things. Good luck and I will check in tomorrow and let you know how it went!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sat this evening....wasn't able to sit my primary bow stand due to the wind. Brought the climber and picked a spot that would work with the wind. Sat there for about 45 mins and just didn't feel right about it. Didn't have any decent shooting spots. Climbed down and was packing up when I heard something running through the woods towards me. Looked and could see a deer coming my way @ about 50 yards. No time to pick up my bow and put my release back on so I stand there to watch. Turned out to be a small 6 pointer. He ran by me at about 3 yards! Not sure what he was running from but he wasn't slowing down any lol.....that was a pretty cool experience.

Well, still no points for me. Sorry guys :( I tried but it didnt work out for deer in Wyoming. I leave Wednesday for a 4 day hunt in Southern Idaho, hopefully that will produce something. I still have a late season in Washington that I will be after that big boy I posted pics of and it that doesnt work out I have the last 5 days of season to kill a doe. I havent killed a deer in two years and its killing me. I've tried hard this year to get one without success yet, hopefully my luck will change soon.

Back home & playing catch up now after hunting 10/1 through 10/9. Weather started out great for several days then went to the usualy hot humid junk by mid week this past week. Deer seen from stands sure started out slow. I started out seeing mostly young bucks and a few does. The only doe in range the first 6 days was one in the 80# range and I passed it. When I finally had a mature doe in range it was while hunting a stand I'd hunted 2 days earlier when right at dark I had 4 bucks under me with one rubbing a tree ~20 yards away. Canopy kept me from seeing what he was so I opted to pass that doe on the chase that buck would come through again. No dice. There was one afternoon I had 3 bucks under me with one right on the borderline of being legal by our club's criteria of 15" inside spread or 20" main beam. I opted to pass and not take the risk of that one costing me $ but he was just a 6 point and not worth the fine to risk wacking him.

My best friend put the hurt on a nice mature buck Saturday morning (10/8)...main frame 10 point with a 3/4" kicer off one G2. Gross green score was 133 1/8"...netted 129 3/8".

Season started 2 weeks ago. Have yet to make it out. Won't be making it out this weekend either....I have to head back into work tonight at 3:00 to do some training with new people on the night shift. Then Sunday the Wife got tickets to the Packer game. I'll be making it out next week. Even if I have to quit work...

Good luck every one.

Made it out for the first time tonight. Had 7 does come by at about 8 to 15 yards. Had another deer come in behind me, didn't get to see what it was as it was behind some dead falls. 19 turkeys, a porkie, a red tailed hawk, and about 300 squirrels! Weather is starting to get colder! So I'll be hitting the woods now.

I like the looks of that rack. It's not your typical muley rack.....looks like a cross between a muley and whitetail.

Are you singing in this picture?

I'm not sure what was going on. I had just given the camera to a 12 year old girl and was walking back up to the deer and picking it up when I heard the camera go off. To say the least, I was not ready, haha.

Congrats Ben...Niceun!

No arrows tossed by me toward deer yet. I did have to finish off a wounded pig one of my buddies shot Saturday afternoon. That's the only arrow I've thrown at hair so far. Not a good feeling to track a pig in a briar thicket and then come face to face with him looking at you. He didn't last long after I put another arrow in him.

I had to make a mad dash to Missouri Sunday with one of my best friends to look at some land in he's buying. Got home a little while ago. Some real good stuff going on there. I'm sure looking forward to hunting up there with him in the near future. I should be back in a tree in Mississippi soon.
