Ravin R10 man
everyone shoot a doe and we could have 65 pts
PotashRLS
This darn warm, down right hot weather, for October kinda sucks. It isn't very condusive to putting venison in the freezer. Its hard to not stink by the time you walk to your stand. I'm for the most part staying out of the woods so as to keep things less pressured. Hope it works when the weather changes and the deer start prerut.
redkneck
Yeah its warm here too. Got all our plots planted yesterday, I did get in the stand for a while, but a stupid hound was running something all around me and I didnt see squat. Sorry I didn't enter either of the does for points guys, but I never have entered one since you can only enter one deer. If I don't enter something with bone on its head by Jan 31st you can guess either I am hospitalized or dead lol.
PotashRLS
You can always upgrade the doe you enter to a buck for more points John.

Not only can you upgrade from a doe to a buck..but you can upgrade your buck also if you do better later in another season or have two buck tags...all Im saying is pts are pts and they count at the end
Tetro
Well I'm hoping for more then just a doe. Its all I've been getting on my cam. I've moved on now past the apples and picking up feed for the deer, hopefully this brings more action. Any progress on a banner? If you haven't been too busy for one. Mirage
I think if you shoot a doe at least put it on the board for us or why be on the team? what if you get skunked? may not happen but you never know. And if you dont put your doe on the board why tell us about it? I am not trying to make you mad just hoping this might motivate you to enter you next doe for the team is all, please dont get upset with my post. Thanks Sean

Thanks Sean Your point is well taken, I'll post up the next thing I get. I've just always pushed taking my limit of does (and usually bucks) which is 8 deer a year down here, and have never bothered entering a doe on the RT contests. But whatever I swack next will be entered!
pointing_dogs_rule
Hi Guys: Been busy with Wyoming antelope. Archery opened Oct 1st, however, it's been much too warm. Early muzzleloader opens Saturday Oct. 15 and goes through Sunday Oct 22. That gives me 9 days to harvest a buck (150 inches or greater or a really nice 8 in the 140's). One of my clients has seen a 10 and a 12 point hanging together and I have a treestand and a ground blind set up in that area. If that doesn't work maybe a nice doe. After that it's in the tree for archery that goes into early December. good luck to all the dog
Ravin R10 man
we need more points..enter a doe and then you can always update
PotashRLS
The weather is turning and the scrapes are beginning to appear. Gonna get a couple scent drippers out and place the cameras on them. I figure I will hunt the afternoons of Oct. 23-29th by sneaking out of work early and then a week of vacation that first week in November. Some Golden Estrus, a True Talker grunt tube and a decoy are my game plan.
Ravin R10 man
Weather has turned..got over an inch of rain last two days...Temps dropped with NW winds up to 40mph they say today..gonna go sit this pm and see what comes in...new moon is 27th..think action should be heating up
redkneck
Yeah, I'll be glad to get this big bright moon out of the way. Temps higher, may not even hunt at all this weekend, been busy remodeling.
KirkV
Well went out this morning as it is finally cooling sown a little here, and had 3 coyotes at 25 yards. One of them never knew what hit him! The other two ran off quickly when he yelped like a scalded dog. Guess I won't see those dogs again. pointing_dogs_rule
In my younger years he would have been in the freezer. He'll be bigger next year. All of 7 yards away. Hope that the big boy does the same sometime. good luck to all the dog
Ravin R10 man
P-dog...lol. I can hear you breathing like you just ran the 40 yard dash!! I guess if you got bigger deer thats a good one to let walk... wish I could see one like that here..nobody is seeing anything big..between the poachers and the wolves it's slim pickins Edited October 17, 2011 by Mathews XT Man
PotashRLS
Saw three nice bucks this weekend with one being a for sure 2 1/2 and the others possible 3s. The one was a high racked narrow 8pt that was pretty aggressive toward the other deer out in the alfalfa. The other two were still pretty docile and mingled well. However, when I was climbing down my tree, I heard two of them going at it across the field. This week should usher in some social changes I think. Tetro
Good Luck. Not sure if there's time for me this weekend to get out to do any scouting. Its been windy and rainy here the last couple of days and we now have a leaky roof that needs tending. Rifle season is just 2 weeks away so I need to get things done before going away for that week.
