Hunt or be Hunted
Sweetness! Congrats! If I could, I'd get out today and try to get me a Birthday Buck, But I can't!
redkneck
That's great! I only saw a spike and some does this weekend. Acorn crop is amazing this year and hard to get them hemmed up in one spot. Food plots need rain BAD. Turkeys are pulling up what little grass is out there as fast as they can. PotashRLS
Congrats Youngbuck! Let someone know if you have trouble uploading. I messed up Friday.............snuck out of work early and ended up passing up a buck (twice) that likely was a 3 1/2 based on trail cam pics. He chased a doe along the field edge and I hesitated based on his high narrow antlers. They were fairly heavy and dark colored but he was super aggressive and had a huge body. It happened too fast so I went with my first gut instinct and didn't shoot. I may get another look at him later on.

Tetro
No bucks on my camera yet near my stand. But got pics of this that showed up for 3-4 days in a row, my guess is that the batteries died in the cam before getting more.
redkneck
I aint got crap on camera to speak of. This dink keeps showing up. 4.5 y/o that likely will never get any better. Would be nice if he would show up on youth weekend for one of my girls to get a shot at. Oh well, still 3 more months of season left. PotashRLS
Looks to be a 2 1/2 well inside the ears with average mass. But John, unless you are looking for P&Y score, a 4 1/2 year old buck is a trophy just in what it takes to kill a smart deer. Looks like decent mass in the beams but would likely constitute a cull as a 4 1/2 if you are managing the herd.

Just because the headgear aint there don't mean that he isn't smart. He is after all only coming in from ten to about 3am in the 6 or so pics I got under those white oaks. He needs to be taken out and would be an awesome bow deer, but a super one for one of my 12 y/o twin girls to get a crack at. We'll see how it goes, meantime I'm keeping on moving the cam around. I'm in the red clay hills of the state, not the good delta region with all the farmland, so we get a lot of deer that only top out in the 100 to 110" range. Hunt or be Hunted
Had a cold front push through overnight and dropped our temps into the upper 40s. Just got done raining late this morning/Early afternoon. Guess I'll head out tonight for the first time in over a week and a half..See if anything has changed.. Edit: I was gonna go, Until I got a call out to the river.. They had a report of a guy in the river and yelling for help. Time I got there, They had the guy outta the water and alive. He got lucky. Don't know what we would do without the Local(s) Fire depts And Emergency Services! Edited November 3, 2011 by Hunt or be Hunted
Ravin R10 man
Interesting eve hunt; We sell deer corn here and had customers coming in picking up large orders Thurs. So I had one party left for the day, and had his two pallets up front at the door (80 50# bags). It was 4;30 pm and time to go bowhunting ...cutoff point..I check my phone messages, and figure he's a no show, but if he comes we have the "honor system" here with a posted sign on front barn door telling them to load their own bags, leave $$ in lock box. Pretty simple. At 5;50 PRIME TIME...here comes my wife Kim down the main woods road with the truck honking...deer were just coming in and of course they blow out. i get back out to road as she comes back after turning around. Im informed two suctomers...omg..thats funny!..(lol that is a mis-spelled word, but Im leaving it as it is..Haaa)... are waiting to be loaded and have been there for almost an hour waiting!! Well I figure they must be a customer that has an order in the back that I have ready and cant get at it until I move the order up front, plus there was no body scheduled other than the MI. guy...OR he was elderly and could not lift bags... I pack up head for the barn...I get there and we have two mid 40 guys standing there.... I blow my cork..but manage to keep it too some steam coming out..I said are you( insert his name)..?? He says" yes Im here to pick up my corn but the skid steer has it on the pallets"!! I said "come here buddy"!!! What does this say on the door"??, pointing to my sign...."Oh I didnt see that"... they could have backed up and been loaded and half way home...NO!! they would rather stand around and wait for the skid steer to lift the bags up to bed level... let me tell you...two of MI finest right there!! I apologized to them for being a little (P-od)..they said they didnt blame me, because my hunt was screwed up...we shook hands and they went on their way...I told Kim I didnt blame her, but I had hoped she would have took stock in the situation and went out and looked what was the deal...anybody would have said..whats the problem? back up and load em up!! Dealing with the public is interesting indeed! Edited November 4, 2011 by Mathews XT Man
