Hello guys and sorry I have not been around much. Been busy but not to busy to get some hunting in!

On Nov. 10th at 10am while bowhunting, using my Primos "The Can" call, I called in a 6 pointer with a 14 1/4" spread. Broadside shot at 22 yards, double lunged him and he went 50 yards and crashed.

Was very happy to get him. Still out doing some late archery hunting and hope to beat this guy if I can.

Good luck to all those still out hunting, be safe and successful!

I will post a picture soon so we can get the points added to the team.

if we can get Lou & Mirage on the score board..we should have 58 pts, good for 4th place..

we are going to need 2 good bucks to be in the lead..and redneck you still didnt enter that doe?

First off, XT if I look like your brother, you have a good looking brother! :D

I just posted a picture of the buck and the tag information in the scoring thread.

As for my camo choice dog, I have gone to Realtree AP as Advantage Timber is just a thing of the past! :( I took this picture with the assistance of my camera on a tripot. Shortly after taking this picture and field dressing him, it started to snow. Was an awesome day!

Congrats CLou! Weather has been warm and windy, but pre-rut signs picking up big time. Scrapes and rubs getting worked more and more, but still a couple weeks off from really getting interesting. Ordered another cam today (truth cam blackout) to try to get spread around some more, there's so many acorns down here it's unreal, and bucks just arent moving much to find food. Hope that's about to change.

Update on the muzzleloader does we killed last weekend............we finished buthering last night and pulled the jaws on them to see what age classes we were looking at. The 123lb doe was a 4 1/2, the 120lb doe was a 3 1/2, and the 118lb doe was an 8 1/2-9 1/2. She was wore right down with her 3rd premolar on the left gone. These deer were taken in an area where the hunters are telling the farmer (land owner) that there are too few of deer to be shooting does. These deer throughout October and November ate a 15 acre alfalfa field down to the dirt. I routinely saw 28-40 antlerless deer every time I went bowhunting. They supposedly are practicing QDM principles but won't shoot a doe and hammer every buck older than a 1 1/2. Very misguided folks who tell you they know it all and will break their own arm patting themselves on the back. The bright side is that us and others will have great eating this year, except for the folks that eat that tough old doe:D

Hope everyone can at least score a doe for the contest. I think our team has done a heck of a nice job this year. Congrats to all.

Well, the rut is almost primed down here. Still just not seeing the deer I normally do, but also not hunting as much. Cabinets get hung in my kitchen today, hope the heck I get my kitchen sink back in that I have been without for 3 days now, takeout is getting old, lol.

Tacking on 5pts for a doe is a done deal, I'm just trying to wait till the rut is over before I start back to shooting anymore. If I don't take a rack buck this year, it will be the first time in probably 8-10 years that's happened, so I may be due for a no-buck year. Still have until jan 31, so plenty of time left in the season.

Good luck to all.

Tracy, sounds like some crazy deer mgt they got there, I've never seen 40 deer in an entire day I don't think. You may need a carbide grinder plate to chew up that old heffer!

Put the hurt on a nice plump little doe fawn last afternoon. Saw 4 doe fawns early and 1 doe. I was surprised to see anything because the neighbor was in there for a couple hours cutting a few Christmas trees. I finally got to try out my Browning .223 WSSM. My buddy and I worked up a load a few years back but never really had the perfect opportunity till now. The load is a 53gr. Barnes TSX bullet pushed just over 3800fps. It could go a bit faster but this was the most accurate load we produced so I used it. I shot her at 60 yards as she quartered away slightly. Put the shot on just above center following up the near side leg. She dropped and kicked twice. The little bullet went clean through with leaving an exit hole about the size of a dime or a bit smaller. I was very impressed with the bullet. I doubt the outcome would have been any different if I would have decided to take the adult doe.

She is going to make some fine hamburger. Yum.
