Congratulations Fly!

I've seen some fawns and past a couple spikes. Had a close call with a big nanny Saturday but she stayed in the thick stuff and never gave me a shot. Going to be warm here this week too so may only get out once before Saturday. I'm getting pics of a decent 8pt behind my house in the oats but they are all night pics. Best I can tell he's just a 2 year old. Wish I could get a good day time pic to confirm. I'm getting an itchy trigger finger! Ready to let an arrow fly!

Congratulations Fly! That's a reall nice doe... Like Joe and Ruth, my/our opener is this Saturday in Upstate NY. My stands have been up for about 4 weeks. My equipment has been checked and rechecked, bow tuned, broadheads sharpened. Scent Elimination potion made. Still do not have a vehicle to get me to my hunting spot, but agreed to a price on a Chevy S10 - just waiting for the owner's bank to send a lien release letter, hope to close the deal tonight... Weather looks "crapy" for Saturday which is just right! A 3-day storm system should be letting up, WSW 20mph, mid 40s-50s, cloudy 30% chance of shower

Took delivery on my first truck yesterday. My first official duty this morning was to put the Realtree HD seat covers on! Getting the insurance and reg taken care of today.

The weekend weather is looking crapier than ever, so I'm going to sit out the opening weekend. Weather will be perfect on Monday - partly cloudy, 10% chance of percipitation. Now I just have to wait and see what the wind direction will be before heading out.

Love them camo seat covers! Got some on mine. Thanks all... We got that mid-October lull right now. Didn't see a deer yesterday or this morning. Last weekend took my son out and all we saw was one small doe. He got a shot, but missed. One more week and the chasing phase starts in my area. Got my doe early, so now I'm strictly looking for horns until the post-rut gun season.

Took my son this evening. Didn't get off work until 4 so we climbed into the the treestand around 5:00. At 5:15, we had a small buck about 80 yards from us. Couldn't get a shot off. Hoping he gets a chance tomorrow.

Sunday, a friend and I are headed to the lease north of here for a full day hunt.

Hey all!!! Chalk up a doe for me! Burned her yesterday morning at 27 yards. Hard quartering shot entered right in front of her right hind quarter and exited out right behind her left shoulder blade. Perfect placement and 5 points for us! I am impressed with the way the FMJ drove right through her with the G5 Striker leading the way. I'll take pics of the tag and everything tomorrow and get it entered.

Congratulations on the doe Joe!

I made it out for the first time this afternoon. Saw a couple of fawns 2 hrs before suset coming out of the bedding area. After dark I lowered my bow and that's when another deer showed up. Couldn't tell what it was, but it spooked as I was walking out of the woods. I'll try again Wednesday if conditions are right... Had a nice time, and saw some animals - it's just a matter of time, I'm on them early!

Thanks guys. I was out again this morning and only saw a forkhorn and a button buck. Passed up the forkhorn at 33 yards and the button at 17 yards. I'll be out again tomorrow and Thurs afternoon, all day Friday and Saturday afternoon and all day Sunday. I'm more so looking for a buck now but I think I'll be much more selective as the pre rut hasn't even cranked up yet around here. I do have a doe tag for our land upstate but I'm not sure if I want to save that for rifle season yet. Good luck to all of ya gettin out this weekend. Weather has gotten very hot here for some reason. Its in the low 70's right now and there's some rain in the forecast for tomorrow. We'll see if the rain cools things down a bit.

I'm sitting in the tree right now. Looking to kill a buck now but the sign is very scarce this year. We had an EHD breakout this summer that claimed well over 200 deer in one town alone and with the lack of acorns this year, the deer are very hard to get on. Baiting is out of the equation so its a shear luck kind of year. There's a big 7 point running this property I'm on. Haven't seen him since early September. With any luck he'll make an appearance. I set my camera on the only scrape I've found this year. We'll see what kind of pics I get in a few days.

Dediced to give it a try today - stayed dry until 5:00 or so. Had a close encounter with a buck around sunset. If he turns left he heads to the woods' edge and I get a 20-yd broadside shot. Instead, he turns right and goes up the woods edge and comes out 75 yds away. Watched him make a scrape and work a licking branch... it's just a matter of time.

Tomorrow is the final movie making day so no hunting. Might get out Sunday afternoon unless I can get help changing brake fluid. Monday may be my next day out.

Bet that was hard to do Joe!

It's blackpowder season in Oklahoma. Set in my stand for 4 hours this morning with my bow but didn't see anything moving except our cows.

I've got to take my daughter to a birthday party this evening so I'll be back at it in the morning.

had a nice 10pt at 40 yards Saturday evening but did not have a clear shot. He was chasing does all around me. Will be back after him Saturday. I was watching football yesterday and looked out the back door to see a deer leaving my food plot and coming towards the house. Got the binos on him and freaked! It was about a 20" wide 8pt. I haven't seen him at all this year. I'll be hunting him hard this week after work. Hope he makes another showing! He's a dandy buck. Too bad we can't hunt on Sunday's here in VA. :bummed:

Good luck VA!

Passed up a small 4 point Sunday night and that was it for the weekend. Weather is slowly getting cooler and the bucks are starting to get in the mood. I know I'll be good for at least a doe. I'm taking a full 10 days off starting November 11th. I'll be in the woods at least 8 hours a day and sometimes more, weather permitting.
