tedicast
John here from CT. My opener is Sept. 15. I have 15th-17th off from work. Would love to put some points on the board early!
Canuck2
Hey crew. Canuck2/Jack (yes, another one) checking in. Our season started here September 1 and I'm thrilled with the result already. I've had my granddaughter shooting a .243 all summer and she was more than eager to start hunting. Took her out the other evening and, cool as a cucumber, she shot this nice buck - her first - at 110 yards. She was so pleased and Grandpa wasn't far behind. Now, to see what I can do to live up to this fine start to the season.
MUDRUNNER
That's awesome Jack! Great looking velvet buck. That country looks amazing. I'm Tim. I live and hunt in Illinois. October 1st can't get here fast enough! I'll be bowhunting, shotgun hunting, and possible doing a little muzzleloader hunting this year. ckrich
Congrats to your granddaughter, and you as well Jack! That is a fine looking buck. I'm Chris, and I live and hunt in Oklahoma. Oct. 1st starts our archery season, and I've got 2 full weeks off this season so hopefully I'll be able to spend a lot of time in the stand. I'm glad to see we've got a couple of team members that get to start their season in September. No pressure guys. Good luck to everyone.
aujack
I know GA isn't one of the best states for whitetail hunting, but if you manage your heard down here, you will like the results. I hunt hard and will only shoot a buck if I plan to get him mounted. This is one of several that I've got my eye on fOr this season!

Bow season starts two weeks from Saturday! I still have a few shooting lanes to trim and need to get my food plot fertilized, but can't wait to get in the stand for my first sit. ckrich
I'm good with any team name... Starting to get antsy sitting behind this desk. The temp dropped yesterday and we are only 15 days out from the season opener! AND, I just found out my vacation was approved:toot::clap: so I should have 20 plus days with nothing to do but hunt!!!!! :gunsmilie:

aujack
Alright, so now we have a name! I've been hunting hard and have seen almost 20 deer in just two weekends in the woods, but haven't had the opportunity to bust an old slickhead yet, and haven't seen any shooter bucks so far. Canuck2
Hello fellow assassins. Got back from my little trip a couple days ago. I'm afraid I didn't connect on anything good to eat, but had a great time. My son had arrowed a nice 4x4 elk at the beginning of the month and I got in at the end of early archery season and the beginning of rifle season. First adventure was rowing across a river in pitch black before dawn. We were paddling along quite nicely and BAM! Hit a big embedded stump in the middle of the river channel. Since we weren't sinking, we continued on and got to our designated beaching point. Then it was off to the particular meadow where my son had got his elk and had been watching more in the same area pending my arrival. As it turned out, first morning of the gun season was my best opportunity. We split up in the dark and accessed opposite ends of the meadow. As light gathered, he had elk within 50 yards of him, which I couldn't see. But they were grazing toward me, so he didn't pressure them at all. Danged if a couple other guys didn't come up from the river, spot the herd, and nail a nice cow. They all ran off and I never even got a glimpse. After that, we couldn't find an elk. So now I'm home and it's hot. I believe I'll be waiting for awhile before I do any whitetail hunting. Good luck to those of you with season openers just around the corner.
