Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Anyone do any good so far this weekend? This is the 3rd windy weekend in a row here. Supposed to rain all day tomorrow. It was really warm this weekend. In the 60s a couple time. I didn't have a chance to get out hunting. I did however eat myself into a food-coma.....twice. Ugh, the holidays are no good for food LOL. We had a big thanksgiving dinner as usual, then yesterday we had a party for my sister for her birthday, so of course I had a big meal then. I am about ready to explode right now!
mikebohio
back from my wva hunt. had a great time. would have a one point upgrade but he had busted a brow tine off almost flush. also took a nice doe.
dbHunterNY
the temps were warm.... so as it turns out i saw many of the smaller bucks i've scouted and passed thus far. however, by the end of thanksgiving weekend all have been shot. Not one survived. Hunted public bow only land toward the end of the weekend, but didn't see anything. A first for that area actually. Still going at it this coming weekend, but it's looking like a season of freezer does will happen.

swohiodave
Hey guys, sorry i have not been around this week much, we had a death on my wife's side of the family. My wife's aunt babysits for us and they found her 32 year old son dead late last week. I am using up a few vacation days until she is ready to come back babysitting again. Hoping to get back out this weekend. Saturday looks to have a high of 32.
the one
give your wife and her family my best wishes. Yes we do need up grades and for the team members with no score shoot something I want to win this thing
Michiganbowhunter_SQ2
Sorry about you and your families loss Dave. I haven't been out much. I was hoping to get out soon since muzzleloader season is going right now. Have finals this week though, and once again there is family stuff going on this weekend. I hope I can try and upgrade, but to be honest, our freezer is full already, and that is my main goal for the year.
toddyboman
Sorry for the loss Dave. Your family will be in our thoughts and prayers. I am sorry to the team I haven't been around much. I have however been hunting my tail off this year. And honestly its been a good year for me killing things. Maybe not great big bucks, but I have put 2 bucks down so far. Year in and year out I pass and pass and pass ok to decent bucks hoping for a better or great buck to step out. And for whatever reason that never happens. Not sure what changed this year but I just started shooting..... As I already posted I shot a doe in yearly September. Then in the middle of Oct my family went to disney world for almost 2 weeks. I am wondering if that wasn't a great thing for my hunting. As that gave my farm a complete cool down for almost 2 and half weeks. So about the time I started hunting again the rut was picking up. At the end of October a buddy and I was hunting and a ok 8 point came in. I was filming and he was shooting.....well at the last minute the buck turned a started to walk away from my buddies shooting lane and as soon as it did he told me I better shoot him.....So I did. And I smoked him. Only bad thing was I forgot to zoom out on the camera so I completely missed the shot on film. But it was still fun and neat. Here is that buck. Next up was the Missouri Gun Season. As with every other year opening weekend was not good. Sure I saw a lot of deer but nothing of any size. And for whatever reason it is like that EVERY YEAR on my farm. I had most of the week off and I hunted hard every day. Wednesday night I got to witness a true all out fight between 2 bucks. Not just the normal little sparing match between a couple little bucks, but 2 older bucks go at it! It was awesome to watch and film. As the fight ended and the victorius buck was chasing the looser off they passed right into my shooting lane. As the bigger buck entered my opening I shot....he kinda hunched up and ran a little ways then stopped behind the tree. Started to go back after the other buck but then changed directions and ran towards the thick stuff. I was shocked and bummed thinking I missed or made a bad shot. His reaction was not the one I was expecting. However I was filming and this time I did happen to zoom my camera out so I had it all on film. So I was able to review the film. It appeared from watching the film (while still in the tree) I hit him high. But to confirm this I wasted to watch the film on a screen larger than the one on my camera. So I backed out and went home to watch on the tv, no need to push him. Well I was correct and the next morning I was able to find him 50 to 75 yards away from where I shot him. So he was probably dead before I ever got out of the tree. But I sure didn't want to push him so I did the ol' "when it doubt back out" trick. So here he is.... He is a 9 pointer. So for the first time ever in my hunting career I have now shot 2 bucks in one season...... Oh and I still have 1 more archery any deer tag......... dbHunterNY
thanks mike. Dave, sorry to it. I pray all of you get through everything the alright relative to the situation. If you make it out good luck. Way to go Todd. I'll be hunting this weekend and the next, right until the end. I haven't seen a shooter all season though! Passed up half a dozen bucks roaming the property I primarily hunt. They've all been shot. lol Haven't gotten a buck in a while. Filled the freezer now, but still have the urge to fill a tag with some bone.
woolybear
Dan and Todd- congrats on some great deer guys! Sorry for your loss Dave. Not much to report here. Been patiently waiting to hunt again. Late ML season starts Monday so I'm itching to get back out. Got 8 days to upgrade. I haven't been seeing anything much to get too excited about. This is the only buck I got on cam since the guns started going off. My only hope is he made it through opening week pressure, so maybe he'll still be around. swohiodave
Nice buck Toddy! I went out Sunday morning and had 4 does and a 4 pointer all around me an hour after daylight. That dang 4 pointer was just offering shot after shot! One of the does knew i was in the tree and she snorted me and ran 30 yards and did it over and over and not one of the other deer payed any attention to her. Talk about hunting pressure. They are to the point they don't care, im guessing she does that a lot. Kind of funny though, she would snort and all of the other 4 would look at her then go back to grazing.
