Well we hunted the opener only to have 2 black german shepards chase deer all around us. Went out this evening and had only yotes come through with no shot. Moon is bad for our bow stands right now should pick up next week.

Cole (my 13yr old son) has a controlled hunt this weekend so I will only get to huint friday morning. Temps should be down and the deer moveing.

Good Luck all !!!!!!!!

Well boys I guess I should have went out this morning......went for a drive at day break and saw about 10 deer all within 100 yards of my oak tree stand....one 8 pointer that would have been 120's and a BIG 8 pointer that would have been VERY close to 140....big,high and wide with alot of mass......oh and by the way he was the closest to my stand....think I will be going for a sit tonight.

Too Cool! You guys are getting it done. I drove to West Texas Friday afternoon and got some oats in the ground hoping the weather people were right and we'd finally get some rain. Hunted for a couple of hours and saw 8 does and 1 spike. It's really interesting that I haven't seen a spike on this ranch in the last 2 or 3 years, but this year I've already seen several. Just goes to show you how much of a factor nutrition plays. One bad drought and the spikes start showing back up.

But on a good note, I got woke up Saturday morning at 3am to thunder and lightening. I looked outside and it was starting to rain. At 3pm it was up to 6 inches and still raining when I left the ranch. 13 months and 22 days since the last measurable rainfall.
