redkneck
Sure tried to let him go, the girls found him at then end of the drive, he wouldn't leave, so I had to remove him. 5' long timber rattler, enough to give you a bad weekend. wtnhunt
That is a good size timber rattler John. Don't see many of them around here, but they are around. We get copperheads and water mocassins in the yard from time to time, they get removed.
ruttinbuc
He would would certainly be an unwanted visitor here. They say the snakes exist here, but I never encountered one. OK with me.
Strut10
Hope you removed him in several pieces. Good thing for the girls to find before it found them first.
redkneck
Actually fired 4 rounds of 2.5" .410's lol. He started in a hole under the tree and I was pulling on his tail, put another round point blank into his side to get him to relax, then the final round point blank to the head. I used to be pretty quick on the trigger when it came to poisonous snakes, but these days I'm more likely to let them crawl, copperheads/cottonmouths generally get an automatic whacking if they're close to the house, but an old guy like this can keep going normally. I actually feel safer with the kids encountering this big boy than a 2' copperhead. I'd love to see another 6' eastern diamondback. Haven't seen one of them in 20 years.
