AJ
Welcome to the forums. I don't have a book of serial numbers of the 870 guns but I have an original 870 that was purchased new in 1960 and it has a serial number that is 519xxxV. That would put yours in the late 50's. If you have the original barrel there should be a code on the left side by the receiver. It should be a 2 letter code. This will work with all of the Remington guns made since at least 1921. B = January L = February A = March C = April K = May P = June O = July W = August D = September E = October R = November X = December M = 1921 N = 22 P = 23 R = 24 S = 25 T = 26 U = 27 W = 28 X = 29 Y = 1930 Z = 31 A = 32 B = 33 C = 34 D = 35 E = 36 F = 37 G = 38 H = 39 J = 1940 K = 41 L = 42 MM = 43 NN = 44 PP = 45 RR = 46 SS = 47 TT = 48 UU = 49 WW = 1950 XX = 51 YY = 52 ZZ = 53 A = 54 B = 55 C = 56 D = 57 E = 58 F = 59 G = 1960 H = 61 J = 62 K = 63 L = 64 M = 65 N = 66 P = 67 R = 68 S = 69 T = 1970 U = 71 W = 72 X = 73 Y = 74 Z = 75 I = 76 O = 77 Q = 78 V = 79 A = 1980 B = 81 C = 82 D = 83 E = 84 F = 85 G = 86 H = 87 I = 88 J = 89 K = 1990 L = 91 M = 92 N = 93 O = 94 P = 95 Q = 96 R = 97 S = 98 T = 99 U = 2000 W = 01 X = 02 Y = 03 Z =
Tominator
Re: Need to identify year of mfg. of Wingmaster That's pretty cool AJ. Now I'll have to go downstairs and check dad's old 16 Wingmaster.
