Good stand setup, when to hunt?

Ok so here is the situation I have. Deer season opens here this saturday. I am contemplating whether or not to hunt, arguably, my best stand right away...or stay out until closer to the rut.

A little info on the stand. its set up on a fork on an old logging road. One road heads off into a thick select cut area, while the other stops before a creek bottom. Coming out of the creek bottom is a heavily used trail. On the other side of the creek is clear cut area. I was walking to get a camera one day when I notices a lot of deer tracks in the mud on the road. Just on a hunch, I set up a camera right where the road forks. Well as it turns out, right on the corner, there is a licking brand and I have gotten several pictures off good bucks using, as well as does using the trail. I have my stand set up so I can see them coming from either road and stoping at the branch.

So, the ultimate dilemma I am having is to hunt this stand once early, right away opening day and then staying out of the area until the rut or just waiting. Obviously, wind would be a factor in my decision, but say the wind is perfect, what do you think the better play would be?

One factor i would also consider is how accessible the stand is. can you get in and out without stinking the area up and blowing deer out? Also, determine if this set up is more of a morning set or an evening set. Most sets in the woods are hard to get to in the morning without blowing deer out, especially when you are between bedding and feeding areas. Lastly, i would agree with William, if all conditions are right and youre getting morning daylight pics of these bucks in that area, that may be your best opportunity at tagging one of them big boys.

good luck

Getting pics of good bucks now, I would probably hunt it now, as you said given the conditions are all right.

He's right. Do a little more digging into those photos. Check the date taken and then check the weather for those days. When you get that same wind direction, hunt that stand! Go to the nth degree for scent control. Good luck!
