tp793
I bought a mixed breed dog roughly a year ago from the local pound. Nobody is really sure what breed she is although it is clear that she is part Shepherd. My question is: What are the chances of training her to hunt pheasants? I've started working with her and she seems to really enjoy it and is doing well at it, but I have not yet started her on live birds and am curious how she will react. What do you guys think? Is it possible for her to be a decent bird dog or is it pretty unlikely?
birdhunter39
I had a family member that used his farm dog which was a German Shepard to go pheasant & rabbit hunting with him . But he never trained his dog for that purpose . Look at it this way a German Shepard is a working dog with a great nose . I don't see any problems with training the dog . wyohunter
as long as the dog enjoys being out with you, is willing to go into the thick cover, thats all you need
