toddyboman
The Missouri Season opened Sept 15.....However due to being busy with work and putting a new roof on my house I just haven't been able to find time to get to a tree. I finished my roof up Friday so Saturday night I was going to the woods. I got in the tree a little later than planned.....I forgot to buy my tags so had to run to the store and get them. I was hunting a new stand that I just hung earlier this summer. Early I had 2 fawns come right up the trail and by the tree and 10 yards. Awesome. Now if I can just a get a big doe to come up that same trail. About a half hour later I was watching a couple raccoon and not paying attention to deer.....I look over my shoulder and I see a deer. I quickly turn into position. I check and make sure its a doe. Yep it is. And she is on the path heading right by my stand at 10 yards. I snap the release on and wait. She approached and then stops behind a tree giving me a perfect opportunity to come to full draw. She takes a couple more steps to my shooting lane. Mmmeeeaaahhhhh She stops and I punched a muzzy right through her. She mule kicks and instantly gets wobble legged. Awesome shes gonna fall right there and that's only 10 feet from the field edge no tracking or dragging required......Well she caught second wind and ran 10 yards back into the woods and fell. Still no track job and only a 20/30 yard drag to the field edge! YES YES YES doe down and my freezer again has some deer meat!!

toddyboman
Thanks Guys! Sure wish I would have brought my camera along as the video should have been good and easy to get. I almost always do but this hunt was suppose to be just a nice relaxing sit in the woods. But I am happy with the outcome. After field dressing my scale said 96 lbs. One down and couple more to go
