The_Kat
Well you sure don't expect to see Elk here in Oklahoma, and thats what Jenn woke up to this morning. She called me at 6AM telling me there were Elk eating our grass. Then she came home to find my corn feeder broken and laying in shambles....pull the game camera SD card and had 8 cows and one decent bull in the pics. I will post them up in a week or two when I get the SD card. Apparently the neighbors high fenced hunting ranch needs taller fences as these were his escapees. It was pretty neat to see Elk....especially in our yard. Sucks to lose an expensive tripod feeder tho......
wtnhunt
That would be a surprise for trail cam pics for sure. That stinks about the feeder Kyle, might be inclined to ask the neighbors if they would help cover it since their animals destroyed it. Dawg
He's a pipeliner so he's rolling in the Benjamins.....he can just buy a new feeder.

toddyboman
Really cool to have elk in your yard.....especially since you live in OK and out west somewhere
ckrich
I would be looking into getting a nuisance wildlife tag and filling the freezer with elk meat as soon as the season opens... after all, they are destroying your property.
Shaun_300
Wow that'd be unexpected! Too bad about your feeder though. Elk just got introduced into central Ontario a few years back. Must be doing pretty good since I see there's a season in the MNR regulations book this year.

I know in Texas you all you would need is a hunting license, sense elk are not a native game animal. Basically, you can treat elk here just like hogs. The_Kat
I'm thinking my neighbor wouldn't be too thrilled with me if I shot his 10k dollar elk lol....and the game warden is my neighbor .
Jeramie
Check into it. I know in Texas you all you would need is a hunting license, sense elk are not a native game animal. Basically, you can treat elk here just like hogs. Because we do have an elk population there is a season for Elk. Its a drawn hunt only and mostly happens on my side of the state. If you shoot an elk on the loose youll probably get in trouble because it would be hard to prove it wasnt wild.... especially if his neighbor is a game warden. stevebeilgard
lyle, i'd sure talk with your neighbor. he may just want the elk shot as he may have damage liability problems. it's surely worth a call. elk are something else. a 6' fence is a minor obstacle. saturday starts our hunting season for deer/antelope and ben (92x) and his dad are coming to my favorite elk ranch to hunt deer. the elk are in full rut and we'll hear the singing all day long. should be fun. ckrich
Elk Season | Oklahoma Hunting Guide | eRegulations.com For some reason I can't remember what county your house is in.... but if it's in one of the designated counties then all you need is an elk tag and landowner(your) permission. Game on, elk in the freezer. I would still talk to your neighbor and the game warden first though.
