Looks like you and I have been doing the same thing this weekend John. My PC crashed on Thursday or Friday and has been nothing but a pain since.

I found out my copy of Windows XPpro was pirated too. frown.gif

I'd thank the guy who built my puter for the rip-off, but he doesn't live here anymore mad.gif

I had to go buy a copy of Windows XP home edition.

I lost my photo-editing program along with Pro. I thought it came with the digital camera disk, I bought, but it ain't there ????

No more fun pictures from me for a while now guys. frown.gifmad.giffrown.gifmad.gifcrazy.gifcrazy.gif

I hope you get it all straightened out. I'm still working on mine.

The downloads and updates take alot of time on dial up. Pretty frustrating.

With cable I got all my updates this morning in about 30 minutes, that includes the re-booting too! wink.gif

I didnt have any virus that I am aware of. I am pretty anal when it comes to keeping my Anti-virus and my Windows updated. I check every other day for updates.

My defrag was taking like 18-24 hours to complete. Gateway told me I should be re-formatting every three to four months! Last time I did this was 11 months ago. Their reason is Windows will corrupt itself in about 6 months. I asked if every 6 months would be good enough, they said unless someting like this happens again, yeah!

So now it is running like new PC! grin.gifwink.gifshocked.gif

Re: ARRRRRRGGGGGGG!!!!!

Actually, it's not really a bad thing to rebuild your computer every now and then. I realize it can be a pain to backup all your files, reinstall all of the software, copy all of your files back, and get it setup the way you want it but you should see a performance improvement once you're finished.
