Leo Posted October 2, 2011 Report Share Posted October 2, 2011 What do you want play your slideshow on? PC or do you want a DVD slide show playable on tv? There are quite a few options. The biggest pitfall with this stuff is a lot of the programs have computer hardware incompatibility. If your computer will not run the software because of a hardware issue you are out of luck and out the money! Nobody takes returns on software anymore. Download the free demo/trial version of any software you are thinking of buying before you buy it. That way if it won't run you are not out the money. Here's an example. Make sure you try the trial version first! DVD authoring programs aren't cheap. I don't know of any freeware programs. If you plan on making a DVD to distribute keep this in mind. Most DVD players will recognize DVD +R but some won't. The ones that won't read DVD +R usually will read DVD -R. If you have family members with older players this might be an issue. Take note that your choice of media (blank DVD's) is important, also. The Verbatim brand is one of the better discs out there with hardly any coasters. They are reasonably priced, as well. You truly get what you pay for. Coasters are what a lot of the blanks turn into when they just don't work.. Making a big slide show can be a bear with the wrong software. Adobe elements would be a good choice. If you do get the trial don't download it until you have all your music, photos and storyline together.
